Google PageRank 4 for my Blog!!!

Great day to remember!!!
My blog Google PageRank is just upgraded to 3 to 4 today!!!
Hooray!!! Same PageRank as my website now. 6 months 2 days from the last upgrade.
Have been waiting anxiously, and becoming impatient, and I know it is very hard to move from PageRank 3 to 4, and it is a less than 2 years old blog. Looks like my consistent hardwork pays off. So touched!!!
Even those urls with 'caricature(s)' are ranked 3.
Must work harder from now on.
Rank 5 6 months later?Heehee..... Getting greedy.......
Have been getting request to exchange links on my blog and website recently. Some even requesting to place ads on them, especially on my blog. Got to really give it a thought, whether they are useful/harmful to my blogs and website, in terms of ranking and SEO.

Caricature of Cristiano Ronaldo

The second commissioned sample.
Cristiano Ronaldo
"Jit
Attached are pictures of 1 player, Cristiano Ronaldo. Could you draw him being ecstatic after scoring a goal."

caricature Cristiano Ronaldo pencil sketch
Does not have any impression of this guy. Must be a very popular soccer player since I heard Wilfred and Adam talk about him. I only know that Brazil Ronaldo (from last two World Cups). Hahaha.... Ya, very outdated.

Emphasized on his mouth too. Another prominent feature will be his standing curly hair. He has a pair of pretty eyes too. Since the client requested ecstatic, I added in tears coming out from his eyes.
caricature Cristiano Ronaldo ink outline
This fist-clenching posture is inspired from what I read in those comic books. It enhances the overall feel, I think.

caricature Cristiano Ronaldo colour watermark
A lot more substance with the colours added on. Opted for a borderless background, to lighten up the whole caricature, since we are looking at ecstatic. Cannot be too static.

I should know the result soon, whether I am awarded this project. If the client doesn't like these 2 caricatures, I have nothing to say, since I have done my best based on their brief. Then we have to see what styles the other local cariatursists can come out with, in order to get this job.

Unique wedding theme

Couple caricatures unique wedding
Client's brief:-
"Below is the description of the drawing which I hope to see
1) girl will be on the left of page, guy will be on the right
2) both people will be wearing wedding suit / gown (but instead of proper dress shoes, they can be wearing soccer boots)
3) Girl will be holding on to a paintball marker with her right hand and left hand will be over the shoulders of the guy
4) Guy will be holding on to a camera with his left hand and right leg will be stepping on a soccer ball
Attached are the reference pictures
1) Paintball Marker (redsevens169.jpg or 98custom.jpg)
2) Camera (Nikon_d3_14-24.jpg)
3) Soccer ball (adidas-soccer-ball.jpg)
4) Guy and Girl’s face (Europe(24dec-1jan07) 031 – rheinfall, schauffhausen, Switzerland.jpg)"

Not the usual wedding design which I always draw.
Reminds me of the recent movie Ah Long Pte Ltd" (老师嫁老大) by Jack Neo (梁智强), though the groom is not the 'gu niang' type. Maybe it is because of the bride's hand over his shoulder.

Caricature theme - princess

Client's request:-
"Chanced upon your website and would like to place an order for a caricature in marker with theme? Just like the goddess sample in page 1........I'm referring to the phyllis quek picture. Please view the attachment. Also, would like to add a little character, just a guy clad in casual wear(any casual attire will do) at the side of the portrait, looking up at the portrait from the side."
Caricature princess
Took out the thumbs up posture as seen in Phyllis Quek's caricature. Think that was done sometime in 2000-2001. A bit outdated, and I don't think it looks good for a lady.
Gave her a more demure posture.
Upon receiving the caricature, the client thinks that the guy looks too big. Maybe too loud to him as an admirer. Heehee.... He requested me to paint over him with some background. However, the nature of the colour marker medium is translucent. I can't cover it like that. Thus, I proposed to have the lady caricature cut out and pasted on a colour mounting board, which should make it look better otherwise. He agreed.

Caricature princess cutout
Pasted it on a beige creamy colour board. Smooth and flat colour. No traces of overlapping lines as seen using colour markers.

Caricature princess cutout framed
Looks even better with a simple blue colour frame without border.

Caricature of Lisa Wang 汪明荃

Caricature Liza Wong 汪明荃 Beijing Olympic 2008 Torch Relay
Urgent order.

Client's brief:-
" Theme: Liza Wang wearing sport suit running for the China Olympic Torch Relay.
She will be holding the torch. I have provided some pictures in the last page
which you may like to incorporate into your drawing. Eg. China flag, logo, etc.
Please also put in the words “Liza 加油!” . Hairstyle: Not to bun up but the bob
style which I provided some pics on.
Special Request: I hope the drawing of her looks as similar to her as possible,
not something too comical, u know what I mean? I need this quite urgently
by next Tuesday (29/4)...... "

The client will be flying over to Hong Kong tomorrow, to give this caricature to Lisa Wang.
She told me the committee will be announcing the result, as in who will be appointed for the Beijing Olympic 2008 Torch Relay in Hong Kong. I am not sure if she gets it, at the time of posting. Didn't hear her name on the media.

Erhmmm..... think I have drawn her too young, but the client told me that the caricature looks nice, upon receiving the artwork.

Caricature of Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry
After four years, I am drawing this footballer - Thierry Henry, again.
The previous caricature is drawn as a guide and reference for me to model him into 3D caricature model (Just realised something wrong with the image proportionin this link. Will amend it later) in Maya.
This time, it is drawn as one of the 2 sample caricatures (commissioned) for a media company (Can't disclose the company name yet, since I haven't get the job yet, in case my competitors undercut by deliberately lowering his prices, just to get the job. They are hungry for jobs, especially for such big job. This is very common and I have seen many cases locally. Anyway, I believe this client would have searched for caricaturists in Singapore online. That's how he gets my contact.)
They wanted to create 100 caricatures of the footballers, but in an exaggerated form, which is very different from what I do usually. (Got license to distort them now) The client doesn't want these footballers to look completely like them, and yet can recognise them in a way or another. I have to omit the details and use the basic colour for the soccer jersey. No logos too. This is to avoid the infringement of copyrights. They will use these caricatures for mobile content download as wallpaper.
Quite an interesting job, but if I get this job, I may end up losing more clients, as this job would take 1-2 months to complete. I have to reject some urgent orders, and even those normal delivery one. Sigh. You can't have the best of both world.

caricature Thierry Henry pencil sketch
Spent some time doing up this pencil sketch. I emphasize on his mouth,, and his frown. Since he opens his mouth big, what should come out from it should be his saliva. Hahaha......
Blown up on the hand part. If not, it will be too small to be seen, since the client requested the head should occupy about 70% of the whole artwork. When downloaded on the mobile phone, their faces will stand out on the small screen. True!

caricature Thierry Henry pen
Put in the French flag, but not the usual flag with a pole. It is flying in the background. The client gives me the freedom to decide what to draw for each caricature.

caricature Thierry Henry colour watermark
Colours added on. The colours definitely bring out everything, especially the facial muscles, through the various layers of shades.
Added on the watermark to protect my client interest, which I never do for all my artworks. I think these watermarks will spoil the feel of the artworks. No choice. If my visitors download this cariacture (without watermark) from my blog, who will buy from them?

Caricature of Will Smith

Caricatrue Will Smith and gal
A birthday gift for this girl who's turning 21. She loves Will Smith. Thus, the client ordered a caricature of both of them drawn together. He will be flying over to Australia tomorrow. Hence, I have to complete it by this evening (few hours delivery!)
Wilfred saw this lying on my table. "Eh, is he Will Smith?" Think I have done my job, as I don't know who he is. The girl will be very sad. Hahaha....... The client (and Wilfred) told me he's an (American?) actor cum singer. Ok. Now, I know.

Caricatures for Tech Semiconductor Singapore Pte Ltd

Caricatures group poster Tech part 1
Caricatures group poster Tech part 2
The client's purpose of ordering this caricature is to use it for his company poster competition on "Chemical Safety".
He already had this idea in mind, with all his bosses and colleagues standing like what you see in games with those characters standing, descriptions below each of them. He will add in the words himself. My job is to illustrate these guys with their specific items/stuff associated with their jobs, in a comical way.
I showed him what I have done for Ministry of Manpower from this blog. (Good thing about blog. I don't have to print them out. Just type the keywords on the top left search field, and I can show them my portfolio instantly.) He likes the idea of having them standing on boxes to tight everything up, with consistency. These boxes will be where he writes.
Given of the space needed for his writing, I have to split this artwork into two A2 sizes. The bosses on top, while the rest below. The only lady - the nurse, meant to be small and short, as per requested by the client, since she has a small frame.

My iPhone

Jit's iPhone
Finally in my pocket. My 16GB version 1.1.4 iPhone, after 1 year and 3 months of wait.

My Sony Ericsson P990i failed on me, after 1.5 years of use.
Main reason is the common problem of most handphone - dropped on the floor/ground.
Keeps giving me SIM card error, and can't make and receive calls.

Have been deciding on which to buy when the P990i giving me the above problems.
The HTC Tynn II and the iPhone.
The former has everything - 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Qwerty keyboard, Windows Mobile 6, Words, Excel etc.
The latter doesn't have 3G, GPS, and runs on OS X (could be a problem if I need to install some PC softwares for PDA phone)

Why the last minute switch then? The DROOL factor.
The Tynn II is grey in colour, and the screen colours look undesirable to me. Price is high too. $1200 without contract.
The iPhone just looked so sleek, slim and cool. No 3G to access internet and make video call? I seldom use 3G with my P990i anyway, as it is too expensive to surf net using it. Seldom make video calls too. Give up the GPS, and stick back to my Street Directory, because I simply like iPhone. It feels so much different when you owned it.

When my brother-in-law showed me his iPhone, I saw the pinch-in (zoom in) and spread (zoom out) features, auto orientation feature for photos and webpages etc, but not much feeling, till I owned a iPhone. It is a totally different feel. Fell in love with it immediately with the beautiful screen (don't think any handphones in the market can match it), flawless running of applications, the Safari, the iPod, Mail, Google Maps, Stocks, Weather, YouTube videos (crisp sharp videos on this 3.5" screen), chat features on the SMS, Installer (install free apps right from the phone itself). Still can add in Messenger applications for my Skype, MSN, Yahoo. iflickr to let me upload photos direct to my Flickr account. The list goes on, and I have no time to play with it yet, as I need to finish a job collecting this evening. It is such a torture with this new toy staring at me, and yet I have to resist myself to touch it.

You will be dead busy and exhausted tonight..... hahaha........

Caricature for Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation

Caricature Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation 250408
Super urgent job again. 1 day delivery.
This guy is not smiling in the photo, and the client requested me to make him smile.
Told her can't change the smile on the mouth alone.
The facial muscle will change too, and everyone's facial muscle reacts differently when he/she smiles. Thus, I can't do it just based on imagination.
I can only play on the features, and the body postures to echo with the blur and 'gong' look.

Caricature theme - cycling

caricatures couple cycling ink 230408
I think this is my line expression at its best so far.
When I am doing this caricature, all the lines seem to answer and respond to what I want to express. Never have this feeling before.
I use G-Pen for the details on the face, enhanced them with my brush.
Then, it comes to the most interesting part. The flow of drawing is extremely smooth. All the lines like automated, comes out from my fountain pen and appear on the drawing. Gave me the feeling of drawing comic strips during my teenage time. Lines after lines, items after items. Just can't help stop drawing, even though I have finished the whole artwork.
Told myself to stop. Shouldn't add more lines, or take out some lines, as I think it will spoilt the whole drawing.
I like everything, especially of the coconut leaves. Continuous lines, and they show their movement, and I can feel the wind direction. Then comes to the shoe and jeans of the lady. They tell me that she's enjoying herself, if you can tell from the lines. Then the dust around the wheels. Seems like it can feel the joy of the couple, and reflects my satisfaction in this drawing.
Think got to stop here, if you still can't feel my excitement about this artwork......

Caricature of a lady in colour

Caricature lady 220408
Changed the angle of the body to face the other side (different from the photo provided) to give it a more dramatic feel.

Feedback from the client who left a message on my cbox on my blog (see sidebar)
"hey jit. thks for the caricature. my gal pal loved it! =) we had a blast. thks loads."

Glad to hear it too.

Mr Q's Q-Digital caricatures and some new products....

I have been looking for artists to work with Portrait Workshop all these years.
Recently, just get in touch with an artist (Mr Q) who does his caricatures digitally, using Adobe Illustrators. His style is totally different from mine. I think the caricatures look clean, unique and cute. Very comic style. That's why he called it Q-Digital caricature. (Q- 版漫畫肖像 in Chinese.)

These caricatures come with the following templates which he has pre-drawn.
(As to create all these templates take up a lot of time, he doesn't do customised designs currently.)
Your caricatures will be drawn, based on the photo you provide.
He's quoting SGD$55 for each face drawn.
You will get a high resolution hardcopy printout at A4 size (21cm x 29.7cm).
On top of that you will get an A6 size (10.5cm x 14.85cm, 150dpi) softcopy in jpeg format for your keepsake.
When you have the caricatures drawn, you can opt to have it on other templates at half the current price.

3d caricature dolly American Preschool mascot Happy Marian

3d caricature dolly American Preschool mascot Happy Marian
This is a 3d mascot done for an American Pre-school - Happy Marian, in Taiwan. It was mass-produced and meant as a give away for their school anniversary celebration to all students.
This figurine is not made of those light and empty rubber or PVC, but made of clay. It is solid and feel the substance and value when you hold it in hands. Ideal for corporate gifts to your valued clients.

3D politician caricature figurines

Adam passed me some bobblehead Taiwan politician figurines to snap.
I took a few angles, and put them together in Photoshop.

These figurines were selling like hotcakes in the current election in Taiwan.
3D caricature bobblehead dolly - Ma Ying Jiu
This Ma Ying Jiu (馬英九) figurine. His another nickname keeps floating in my mind - "My Angel". Heard it over radio. Rhymes, right?
Don't think this really look like him, personally. But Adam told me that his client insisted on this look. Client is always right. Just gives them what that want. Is it?

3D caricature bobblehead dolly -Xie Chang Ting
Xie Chang Ting (謝長廷) bobblehead figurine. This really have the caricature feel.

3D caricature bobblehead dolly - Su Zhen Chang
Su Zhen Chang (蘇貞昌) bobblehead figurine. Heard of his name in news, but can't really remember his look. Receding hairline is my impression of him. No impression of his look.

I am very bad in these politicians. Only knows Chen Shui Bian and Ma Ying Jiu, as my freind Eddie looks like him (in his ic photo, and looks like Michael Hui in reallife. Hahaha.....) the latter gives me the impression of an upright and more civilised Taiwan politician, if I see correctly.

Caricatures for Deutsche Bank AG

The client saw the above caricatures which I have done many years ago, on my website, and requested a similar one for his colleague who will be leaving the bank soon.

His other requests:-
" with ....... the guy with the fishing rod.....and an additional wood sign pegged in the ground next to the deck chair reading Gone Fishin' (pity that you moved away coz my office was at One Raffles Quay...) "

A very nice and polite client, and came all the way up to my SOHO to collect this artwork, and right on the dot. Super client!

Now, after so many years, I think my expression of lines with my G-Pen became better, as compared to the previous one.
Nicer cartoons cow too. Hahaha......

Couple colour caricatures on mousepad

Caricatures Jaslyn & Reid A4
This is the original artwork.

Caricatures Jaslyn & Reid mousepad A4
Scanned and added in a background colour for this mousepad artwork, so that it will look sweet and nice on the mousepad eventually.
Change dthe text to what the client requested.

couple caricatures on mousepad 260408
In the end, what happened?
I sent out the wrong artwork, and only realised when I collected it.
Damn! And it was too late, as the client will be coming in a few hours' time.
Called her, but she said she will take a look.
Told her that I can do another one for her if she wants.
But she was quite happy upon receiving the end product.
She said that if she want, she will order from me another mousepad, using the correct artwork.

Caricature of Aska Yang Zong Wei 杨宗纬

Caricature Yang Zong Wei 杨宗纬
This artwork is meant to be printed on T-shirts using silk-screen method.
The T-shirts are for the group of Aska's fans in Singapore.
They prefer him to be in this white jacket, grey singlet, and jeans.
The heart-shaped balloon is given to him from these fans during one of his trips to Singapore.
Thus, they wanted to capture it in too.
Initially, they wanted to do it in black and white, to reduce the printing cost.
But, I told them colour would bring out his cheek bones and facial muscle better, instead of using lines. They opted for the latter in the end, as you can see. More damage to the ir pocket, but better outcome for sure.

Frankly speaking, I heard of his name, but can't remember his face.
Hence, when the client emailed me his photos, I don't know who he is.
This upset her to some extent. Hahaha...... Getting outdated on these young pop-singers/idols.

The client told me that her friends were quite excited when they passed by a caricature shop, and they almost wanted to do it. But she told them she has a better and first choice. That's what held them back, and engaged me to do it for them. Thank you.

Caricature theme - I'm the Best!!!

Caricature I am the Best!!!
To be presented to the boss.
Theme is 'I'm the Best' with 2 thumbs up.
Could appear quite flat and plain.
Hence, I play on the angle - bird's eye view, with his right thumb up magnified, while the other being a lot smaller. The imbalance and magnification break away the monotony, and the client is very happy upon receiving the artwork. She said 'very nice'.

Welles told me my competitors are copying what I do on this blog, after reading their posts. So confirmed not me being over-sensative. I can't possibly block them alone, from viewing my blog, while the public still can view it. I am telling my blog readers my approaches, feeling etc of each drawing, and I think these will make this blog more interesting. However, the drawback is that they will copy. They rephrase it, or change it a bit, and it became their own version.
Quite worked up, whenever I think of this.
Can't they just do it their own way? Be original, at least let me show some respect to them as an artist. Leave some pride to yourself. Show your skill in your works, and not in copying.

Caricature for Gillette

This was the order which I have mixed up with previous order.

Gillet caricature cricket player draft
The client was very uncomfortable to let me take care of the whole caricature design.
He wanted a sketch preview sent to him via email.
There's a fee for this, as I don't want to spend most of my time doing preview sketches, scanning and emails. I would rather spend more time on the drawing itself.
Even though I don't have a retail shop for a month, my orders are quite consistent, and everyday I have to spend time replying emails on customers enquiries and orders, answering calls, sorting out the orders and their requirements. These can take up few hours of work a day. No joke.
Then, I have some oversea orders. Got to arrange for online payment and shipping stuff.

Caricature Gillette cricket player
Back to this caricature, this gentleman also leaving Gillette.
His colleague (my client) wanted to present this caricature (with frame) to him as a farewell gift.
He loves cricket, thus the client wants to put him in Indian Cricket jersey, with an India flag on his sleeve and India on the cap.

# The snapshot looks yellowish to me, which differs a lot from my original artwork. Maybe I will need to edit the colour and post it up again, if I have the time.

Caricature for P&G and Gillette

Caricature P&G Gillette
Mixed up.
Supposed to do up this caricature and send it for framing first, but I started with the other order for Gillette. Luckily I still have some time left to do up this caricature. Same company, different clients, and yet collection dates are so close.
This gentleman will be leaving the company soon. He has worked in China, Japan, India, Middle East, Boston etc.
The client wanted landmarks of these countries, instead of the flags to represent them.
Told her can't put in everything. and suggested to add the more prominent country landmarks like Great Wall of China, Mount Fuji and Taj Mahal. She agreed.

Caricature P&G Gillette edited
Upon her collection, she said that I missed out Boston and Merlion. No point arguing. Just do what they wanted, and they will be happy. This is what I learned from my past 14 year experience in this line.
I took it out from the frame and added them in, plus Big Ben from London. Sent back to my frame supplier to seal it back.

Caricature theme - Superstar

Caricature Superstar
Super long brief:-
"I would like to get a caricature made for my friend Jay on his 21st birthday. The category i'm looking for is 'caricature in colour marker with theme'. The date i need it by is Friday 18/04/08. I'm aware of the extra charge because of the express service and im ok with that. If there are other extra charges as well, please let me know.

[Jaypic X1, X2, X3, X4 are pictures of Jay]
[Jaypic 1-9 are pictures regarding the theme]
Now on to the details of the theme:-

The theme im looking for is something like a 'Glamorous' red carpet superstar theme. There is a red carpet down the middle with fans and reporters clicking away at the sides. Jay would be standing in the middle of the red carpet with an expensive car in the back (the car he presumably arrived in). i will use pictures to show more details of what i mean.

Jaypic 1 & 2 show the general layout of what the theme i want to be is like. It does not have to be exactly like that but the general idea is there. The essential idea of the red carpet, the car in the back and the reporters/fans at the sides is important. Time of day is night if that is needed.

Jay himself should be the standing in the middle and should be the focal point of the entire picture. What he should be wearing is something like Jaypic 3.
He could be wearing sunglasses. The type of sunglasses i want is translucent ones, what i mean is that he should be wearing sunglasses but u can still see his eyes. Jaypic 4 shows what i mean. They style of sunglasses should be like Jaypic 4 or Jaypic X3 and the color of the sunglasses lens Light blue.
**If you think that the sunglasses idea would not work and it would just make it look like he is wearing spectacles, please let me know. I will revise my idea.**
(Jaypic 5) are the kind of shoes he wears(no need detail of pic, just showing that they are pointy shoes). Also add the bangle in the right arm as in Jaypic X2 and a watch on the left arm. Maybe u can add a small sparkle on the watch like diamond sparkles.
What pose he is standing in and what position he has his hands in, this i leave to the artist.(think celebrity glamour)

The car in the back should be a Lamborghini Reventon (he is totally crazy about this car). The car i'm talking about is in Jaypic 6. The car behind him would be a side view so i tried to get a kind of side view pic. Importantly, the signature design of the rims/wheels of Lamborghini Reventon should be shown (Jaypic 7). Also u can put a visible lamborghini logo somewhere on the car(Jaypic 8) or just the words 'Lamborghini' . The idea is that when he sees the Caricature, he can easily tell that the car behind is the Lamborghini Reventon.

As for fans and reporters at the side, there should only be Female fans(lol) and the reporters should be clicking pictures or at least have cameras held up. The fans and reporters dont have to occupy too much of the picture, the idea is to have them at the extreme sides to mainly show that they are there. The fans can be something like this (Jaypic 9) but i leave this part to the creativity of the artist.

At the bottom of the caricature in the center i would like the words 'Jaipal the Superstar' written in some kind of cursive font without obstructing any elements of the picture itself. the words dont have to be big. "

Have to be extremely careful on such long brief, as the client could be quite particular on the details. However,, upon meeting him, he was quite friendly.

His feedback was - very nice, upon receiving this caricature.
Can't do the glowing effect on top of this 'Superstar' due to the limitation of the marker medium.

Caricature live sketching for SIA Engineering

An hour event at Merchant Court Hotel.

Thought I can park at the hotel carpark for an hour odd.

They should be charging me on per entry basis after 6pm, and the fee should be around $3, $4 max. When I stop at the entrance gantry point, I was shocked upon seeing the charge display. Thought I saw wrongly. Was that overnight parking or whole day parking fee? Guess how much? $7 per entry!!!!!! Nearly fainted. But the gantry had opened up, I can only drive through (if I reverse and knock into cars coming into the carpark from behind, that will cost me don't know how many tiems of $7!)
Crazy rate!!! Even higher than Carlton Hotel and Fullerton Hotel's parking rate of $6 per entry (or have they increased their rate recently too?) Merchant Court Hotel was upgraded to 7-star hotel, is it? Or 8-star?
I made a big turn in the carpark, heading towards to the exit. If there was no grace period, I will just park here.
Not that bad luck. No fee charged. I drove out and parked at the open-air carpark opposite the Hotel. The couple costs me $1.50 for 1.5 hours of parking. Still can have the remaining $5.50 for a good dinner. Blacklist this hotel carpark liao.

Back to the event organised by Jason from the Vision Event Management.
He has forgotten about my long-revised rate (more than 1 year already) of $200 per hour.

He thought I am still charging the market rate of $150 per hour.

I believe more than 95% of the Singapore caricaturists are still charging at this price. The remaining 5% are charging lower, ranging from $80-$120 per hour, depending on how desparate they are, in grabbing all events. They could spoil the market rate, given that some event companies just hack care whether they can do good caricatures for their client and guests. As long as they can pick up their drawing tools and draw a face on paper, they are considered as a caricaturist. This is very unhealthy for our market. I heard from most of the guests telling me that they have their caricature done before, but doesn't look like them at all. So they take it as the standard for live caricatures done locally. So when they get better caricatures, it will be a surprise for them. That's why you will see some of them quite reluctant to get their caricatures initially, till they see the first 1 -2 live caricatures done by me, and they will start to put their name on the queue list. This is the true fact, and I am not exaggerating any parts.

My rate helps to filter out those clients and event companies who don't look for quality, but quantity and low prices. I don't like to work with such clients too. No appreciation of your hardwork and skills. In fact, if they want fast caricatures, I can do up a sktech in less than 30 seconds with resemblance. No kidding, if you have seen me drawing live caricatures. My competitors saw that too. But getting 60 fast caricature skteches done in an hour is nothing compared to getting 9-11 quality live caricature sketches in an hour. What's the difference? Satisfaction and pride! This is what keeps me working in this line for 14 years. I have pride in my drawings. I signed on every piece of my artwork upon completion (except those I forgot to sign and this is rare). I am not afraid of my signature and url appearing on them. This is a guarantee of quality. Some of my clients asked me not to sign on the artwork, and I usually won't take up such jobs, except for those advertising purposes. I told them they will regret, as I won't guarantee on the quality without my signatures on it. I put all my artworks on my blog, be it satisfied or not. I believe that I have done my best within the timeframe and under that circumstances. Till now, I don't see any caricaturists in Singapore dare to put up every photos of the live sketching caricatures they have done for events. At most they put up 1 or 2 of their best caricatures done for that particular event. Maybe I am just too thick-skin. Good or not good, you judge it yourself. I will just show you what I have done. It may not look that good to you now, but it will definitely look better as we move on, as I believe the more I draw, the better I get. Skill comes from repetition!!! Right?!

Back to this event again:-

Told Jason that I have been charging at this new rate long ago, even for his previous event with me, and he can check through his account. But he agreed on the fee immediately. Thank you.

First one to grab his seat once the emcee, Jason announced the pre-event entertainment available for this evening.

The super enthusiastic one, but missed to grab the first seat.
She was laughing away on her caricature, kept bringing her colleague to my table to show them her caricature.

Bubbly lady. Laughing since she started queueing, and even after her caricature was done.

She told her friends that the caricature looked like her, but not exactly as in the form of portrait, and yet look funny and cute. Beside working on the face parts (too lonely and awkward with just the face alone), I will always add on the upper torso with different postures to give them something different. They welcomed this very much. And other caricaturists are following what I am doing now, and they told me openly that they are using some of the postures I have designed. Soon, you will see them using these postures in their drawings. I can't stop them from following or copying. What I can do is polish my skill and techniques further. I will just go on moving forward, and make sure that I don't lag behind. They want to follow, just let them be. At least, I am not following what they are doing. Good to have competition indeed. Keeps my passion burning.

Think these 2 guys are the photographers (from SIA Engineering). After taking some many photos, they think caricatures are what they can't get with their cameras.
As soon as I finished the face part, and moev on to the torso, they said 'thank you' to me and move on to continue the photo shooting.

She wanted a nice face and figure as the caricature of Angelina Jolie, which I displayed for all my events. She was overjoyed upon receiving her caricature.

Must snap a photo of my 1 hoiur hardwork, since they are still lying around for drying. In fact, most of them were dried. Some of the guests were very anxious to get their caricatures, but just afraid that it was not fully dried, and dared not ask me.
