Caricature live sketching for TNT Express Worldwide (S) Pte Ltd Annual D&D 2009
Theme of this event is Superheroes.
Superheroes backdrop.
A rounder Spiderman snapping photos away for the guests, not climbing on walls though.:)
Shhhh... he's the event organiser.:D
I only managed to recognise him when he speaks.
Wonderwoman....
CatWoman.... meow!!!
Is Cowgirl......a superhero too?
His bicep is hidden under his sleeve.....
Caricature theme - Indian & Chinese wedding
Client's brief:-
"I came across your work through a google search. I really adore the Chinese wedding couple. I've attached the two jpegs off your website that I am interested in. What is the difference in price for the two?
I am interested in getting something done for my wedding next year. In Canada, it is common to send out "save the wedding date" cards and I would like to incorporate a caricature. I am Chinese and my finance is Indian (Hindu). We are happy using the Chinese wedding couple, but are also curious if there are any mixed Indian/Chinese templates.....
My fiance and I are interested in keeping him in the Chinese groom, but perhaps having me in a red Indian attire (like a Lengha) and himself carrying me....."
I've attached three photos of a traditional red wedding lengha. The first one (Lengha 1) shows the colour and detail I would like on the caricature. Since the model is sitting, i've included the Lengha 2 photo of a model standing up, to show the shape of the Lengha. (Please do not include a head scarf as this is more a North Indian and Muslim tradition). Lastly, i've included the photo-Lengha 3 to show you a bindi that i would like on my forehead. I prefer the more gold decorated one rather than a dot-like bindi.
Q-digital caricatures are not customisable.
Thus, this client can only go for caricature with theme in colour.
As usual, the killing one are the textile details.
Quite impossible to follow every details. Hence, I need to simplify the details.
Feedback from the client:-
"...The work looks fantastic. Thanks again and it was a pleasure working with you."

Caricature theme - Man-U soccer player
"I would like to have a couple caricature done, to be given as an anniversary gift to my fiancé this coming Dec. That’s also when we’ll be getting married! ;)
The couple caricature i would like is sth like this one you have done before (Caricature in colour marker with theme - with background & body):
http://www.caricature.com.sg/2007/11/caricature-theme-liverpool-soccer.html
Of him in soccer jersey and myself as a ‘cheerleader’ (but in own outfit, not cheerleader outfit).
Details:
He is a big man u fan so please have his jersey in the latest RED man u jersey (can you please add a number ‘19’ at the edge of his shorts please? Hehe). His pose similar to that you have done above will be fine, unless u have other designs in mind.
As for me, i would like to be wearing the outfit similar to the photo i have included named bluerose.jpg (blue floral headscarf, blue top and jeans. Pls draw the sleeves up till the wrist). And my heels from the photo named ‘blackcouple.jpg’. That photo will also give an indication of my height standing next to him.
As for the background, it’ll be great if the stadium could be the old Trafford stadium! If not, similar to the above caricature is also fine with me!
That’s all the details i have. Sorry if im being too fussy! The rest of the pictures i have included are for the details of our faces. I hope they suffice and please do accept my order, thank you. "
Client's response:-
"Oh.... nice!"

Caricature for Procter & Gamble (P&G)
"....Eddie is his name. Eddie will be moving from Singapore to Cincinnati. He has worked in Japan, China and Singapore. We would like a caricature of him in a PINK SHIRT flexing his muscles departing from Asia to Cincinnati. On the palm of one hand he can be holding a trophy and the other palm a bottle of SK-II. Given that he is a Research Manager, can we also have consumers in the background of the picture.
P/s: He is our Fitness Idol in our SK-II Department."
After Googling for Cincinnati online, then I realised it is a city in United States.
This building perhaps is the most significant landmark I can find.
In case no one can tell which city it is, I decided to put in the city names.

Caricature live sketching for a wedding dinner
This was the last one for the week.
A 2-hour event for a wedding dinner, 6:30pm - 8:30pm, at Hilton Hotel, Grand Ballroom.
Direct flash didn't turn out so good. I switched off the flash.
A shy gentleman, don't dare to look at me.
This was a good one, I think.
Looks like a strong guy to me.
Thus, I have him rolled up his sleeve, showing off his muscle.:D
The guests surrounding me said this caricature looked very much like him.
You can't miss his pointed eyes and pointed chin.
It was a breeze sketching her.
The guests told me that it looked very much like her too.
They all afraid I drew them big mouths and teeth.:D
She can hold her smile throughout the sketching process.
Wonderful! Made my job easier too.
She said she can tell that the caricature looked very much like her, even looking from her side (upside down). Is it?:D
He said the same thing too!
Caricature theme - happy Buddha
"I have just seen your wonderful work on your website and I would like to enquire about ordering a caricature. I live in Sydney, Australia, my friends birthday is 21/11/2009 and so I was firstly wondering if that leaves enough time for order, your work and delivery as we leave the country soon after on 27/11/2009. I am very interested in the colour marker and theme caricature including both body and background, and would like my friend to be drawn as the happy buddha that I have similarly seen on your website. My friend is already bald which may assist in the likeness!!!!! And I have some happy looking photos of him that would lend themselves well to the caricature."
An oversea order from Sydney, but to be shipped to UK.
I think the linework helped a lot in spicing up this simple theme, giving texture and style to this artwork. It could have otherwise looked rather plain.
If the subject's face is rounder, it should fit better on the fat body.:D
My wife saw this caricature by chance (when I was packing it for shipping), and said "very cute!".
It has been sometime I heard such remarks from her.:D

Caricature theme - cycling home
"I saw two pieces of your work that you completed for my friends, Colin Clark to Stacy Neo, for their recent wedding.
My husband has his 50th birthday coming up on 5th December and our girls and I would love to surprise him with one of your creations.
I’ve put together some thoughts and some photos in the attached word document as I wasn’t sure quite how to ask or present my request to you. However I’m very happy to consider suggestions you might have.....
It is my husband’s 50th birthday on 5th December and I’d like to order a caricature of our family for a gift. Below is a recent photo of the four of us.
My youngest daughter in the black dress doesn’t have such a natural smile in this photo so below is another of just her to give you something better to go by but please DO NOT include her braces. Both my girls 95% of the time wear their shoulder length hair up in a pony tale
Singapore has been our home for 8 years now and I would like to include somehow in the image the front of our current home. Photo taken from two angles below. I’ll leave it up to you if you want to include the Toyota Camry in the image.
The last member of our family to include somehow is our dog Tilly. See photo.
My husband loves mountain bike riding so I’d like to include him on a mountain bike (additional photo attached of him riding his bike to give you some idea of the type. If you could include “Trek” as the brand of the bike on the bike frame that would be a bonus)
Quite often my husband goes off to Bukit Timah hill biking and then comes home sweaty and bit dirty. We don’t ride with him so I’m thinking some image of him coming home from a ride or about to head off on a ride with us waving him goodbye type thing. Both our girls are t-shirt and shorts type and I tend to wear t-shirt and often white pants. I’d also like the year 2009 put next to your signature please.
I’m trying to think of more information about my husband to help you develop an idea. He loves wine, as much as his biking !!! but not sure if you could incorporate this or not. He’s 6’4” and slim build as you can see. His hair is normally shorter than in the family photo like this:...."
Whenever I see a very detail brief, I will be stressed up.:D
Since I have such a detailed pencil sketch, I decided to do a snapshot as a record.
It is a birthday gift for the subject.
Thus, the focus should be on the subject, and his hobby - cycling, back from Bukit Timah Hill.
The family members will be in front of the house, welcome him back.
The inking did some trimming and refinements here and there.
Took some time to ink in the house details.
I strated this job quite early, span across 2 weeks, as I afraid I may not have time to finish it on time for printing on T-shirts and framing.
This colour version took me 2 nights to complete.
Just too many details to take care of.
The client initially ordered 4 T-shirts, and subsequently ordered 1 more.
Thought it was for the doggy:P, but in fact for her maid. (She told me upon her collection.)
She was very happy with the outcome (Phew! Afraid something might go wrong, since there are quite a number of requests in subsequent emails too). Her remarks was quite lengthy that I can't remember all. A few main ones are the caricatures looked so much like them, I managed to capture their dog, and the way it runs towards her husband, her daughters told her that they are going to use this caricature artwork for their Christmas cards. etc.
Anyway, I am glad that she loves it. My effort was appreciated.
Caricature live sketching for GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)
An hour event (4:30pm - 5:30pm) for GSK Urology Powerhouse, at Diamond Ballroom, The Jewel Box at Mount Faber.
This event organiser needed 2 caricaturists.
As such, I got Reggie to partner me.
Another event for doctors.
I sketched for GSK event in 2004, but organised but another event organiser.
Looking back, seems like GSK likes to use their own paper, with their logo and event titles printed on it.
The lighting is quite bad at this place.
It does affect the quality of the caricatures, since we can't see the subject's features clearly.
We were given additional electric 'candlelight', on top of the existing candlelight, but was taken away by one of the waiters halfway during the event. I didn't ask him to put it back, as that additional light doesn't help much.
The above caricature was smudged accidentally.
To cover that, I added in the bullet and bullet holes.
This doctor was amazed and happy with my small touch.:)
This doctor wanted to hold a gun too.
I proposed a syringe for him.
He likes it.
The queue list is getting long.
I have to speed up on the body and posture parts.
This was a fast one, as his features were easy to capture.
This doctor told me that his caricature looks very much like him.
Job done!
