digital caricature montage for wife as birthday gift
This client received the digital caricature of himself doing the Gangnam style, printed on stretched canvas last Novemeber and he loves it, thinking to do something similar for his wife's birthday too.
The brief:-
"... wondering whether we can do something like :
1. ..... as a banker, dressed up, talking to people and counting money
2. ...... on safari holidays watching animals like lions or sharks
3. ...... exercising Yoga
4. ...... together with me, a happy married couple."
Doing the sketches on Sketchbook Pro....
Digital rendering is not any faster than traditional colouring on paper, butI can vary the size of the brushes and zoom in to paint in the details, the outcome is a lot better. More colours to choose from too, versus my limitation of colour markers set I have.
Completed for printing on stretched canvas

caricature live sketching for Francisca Ladies' Night
A 2-hours gig (7-9pm) at Milenia Walk, Parco Department.
2 of the girls whom I have sketched for Miss Universe Singapore 2013 last month, recommended my service to them, and here I am sketching for the ladies this evening!:)
The boss told me that she will be engaging me for 2 more of their events in August and later part of the year, upon the completion of this session, because my sketching was a hit for this evening event.
Thank you.:)
The caricature template I have prepared for them beforehand!
digital group caricatures for Procter & Gamble (P&G)
My regular client wanted a similar digital group caricatures which I have done for them few months back, probably she likes the cleaniness of the overall drawing?!
Sketching out the 3 main character. Of course, the one in the subject being the biggest!
Sketching out the faces and inking in Sketchbook Pro, on my Wacom Cintiq 24HD. It is working fine now, but I don't know when the burning smell will come back. I tried not to overwork it. Off it every few hours of use. Hopefully it will never come back. Let me use it for a few years more at least?!
Rearranging them in Photoshop after the inking is done. This took me nearly 2 hours, including the inking of landmarks. Unbelievable, right?
Rendering in Photoshop is better than in Sketchbook Pro, at least for me.
I like teh overlapping of colours with transparency. gives me the watercolour feel.
As I can zoom in and do the detailing in outine and colouring, the drawing turned out to be clean and sleek, as opposed to drawing traditionally on paper using colour markers. The nibs are still the same size, no matter what size of drawing I am working one, making the work of detailing rather messy. This is the biggest advantage I find working digitally, on top of the undos, maneuver, and controls of tones and variety of colours I can choose from.
I am pleased with the outcome, especially seeing it in A2 size print! Really sleek, but it consumed more time as versus working traditionally on paper. Who said working digitally is faster?

digital caricatures for Singapore Air Force
Client's brief:-
" Hi! We’re from the Republic of Singapore Air Force, Sembawang Air Base, 206 squadron. To give you a little more info is that we’re the tower controllers in Sembawang Air Base and what we do is we land and depart helicopters (the only helicopter base in Singapore). So what i hope to include in the background is that the character must be wearing our air force blue pixelised uniform (see picture below) and boots. There is no need for the beret, just their normal hair in the pictures i give you will do. Then the background to have our Sembawang Control Tower (see picture below) with a few helicopters in the air carrying the Singapore flag like in national day parade (see picture below). Then try to make the background with like some green field and the sky. I hope that you can draw our control tower on the right and our squadron logo on the right ....."
