This was a real urgent job - 2 days delivery.
When I got hold of all the photos, I left 1 day to complete everything.
What was headache was the super small photos provided by the client, and those were the only photos of what he can get hold of.
Faint!!!.
I can only try my best.
I just let him know that the outcome won't be as good as drawing from clear and higher resolution photos.

Caricature theme - priest
The client wanted a simple caricature in ink of this priest.
However, the job was not that simple when I see the photos provided by her - all low resolution, very pixelated. Features can't be seen clearly, but still can see his big moustache.:)))
I have tried to email her (don't have her contact number) to get better photos, but she didn't reply. The job was pretty urgent, and delivery within a few days'time. I can only try my best to do what I can, based on what I have on hand.
. Thank goodness no complains :D from her upon her collection.

Caricature for Exxonmobil
Client's brief:-
"background : at the beach, australian beach would be good..
subject: wearing beach wear, using his blackberry and saying " Mates,
this is my Home Based Office!" "
The client's colleague has made an equiry on this job few weeks back.
I replied him with the rate.
He replied my email, asking me to proceed.
And it happened that my laptop crashed on that day, and that email was not received on my end. I didn't realise it until this client called up to check with me on the status.
yesterday. He got this shock of the day, upon hearing that this job was not in my work schedule, as I didn't receive that email to procxeed with this job, and I didn't receive a 50% deposit as confirmation of job.
Anyway, we got this done with frame in time, and it happened that I was not that tight up these 2 days. I was rather amazed too, on the speed of delivery of job.
Feedback from the client (via email):-
"Jit
appreciated your help to get the caricature done. Everyone, especially Scott Clare, the subject person loved the rendition. He was so surprised and wondered how we managed to get the picture of him at the beach. He had one photograph taken a year back with the similar posture and background!
best regards
James"

Caricature theme - wake boarding
Client's brief:-
"The caricature you did for us (Sheela and George: Mr and Mrs Demel) recently was such an success and can I therefore ask you to do some thing else for me. I have attached some photos of Adam, who is a friend of mine. We want to give him like a farewell caricature (A3-size) of him and some famous Singapore landmarks like Raffles hotel, Singapore flyer and Merlion.....I was thinking for him to jump through the Singapore flyer on his wakeboard "
Quite a challenge for me to draw him jump through the Singapore Flyer.
If the latter is drawn too big, you can't see the structure.
If too small, you can't see his face (big enough).
If I tilt the angle such that you can see the full crcle of the Flyer, i.e. he has to charge towards you, then you can't really see the wakeboarding action so clearly.
Think this is what I can do so far.
Maybe, I can come out with another better angle again, if I have a similar request.

Caricature theme - Triumph + electric guitar + Guinness pint
Client's brief:-
"We would require the caricature to include a few background items in pencil.
Items to be included will be a motor bike(Triumph), a guinness pint (he's Irish) an electric guitar and some mention of his 40th birthday.
Items to be included will be a motor bike(Triumph) maybe him sitting on the bike ,
a guinness pint (he's Irish) an electric guitar and some mention of his 40th birthday.
Can you make it so its fun with maybe an exagerated smile. "
This client only needs the digital copy to be sent over to him (not sure which country he's from).
Original hand-drawn hardcopy is still with me.

Caricature live sketching for The Cocoa Trees - part 3
Part 3, also last part for this job.
2 hours session (5pm - 7pm) at The Cocoa Trees Raffles City.
The client initially wanted this session from 6pm - 8pm.
I told them usually the couple will start queueing at restaurants or dining places from 7pm onwards.
Instead of getting less couples (since it is a Valentine's Day promotion) drawn from 7pm - 8pm, I suggested to shift the session 1 hour earlier. They agreed.
True enough, I have been drawing literally non-stop, one after another during this session.
After I have finished the job, I saw long queue at restaurants, especially those popular ones.
They have made their purchase way before my session started, afetr seeing the promotion on the poster.
The photographer for the first session.
She's overjoyed upon seeing her caricature.
This couple came all the way from Vivocity.
They didn't get the chance to have their caricature drawn by me.
Thus, after seeing the time slot indicated on the promotional poster, they made their way here.
Wah!!! Thank you.
Quite a close one.
A shy lady.
Babies are always hardest to sketch.
Have to entertain them, as well as catching their attention, so that you can capture what you need to put on paper.
This, for sure, will take up longer time.
Thanks to the client, who did the entertainment part for me.
The lady who is working at the next door - Watson.
Today is her birthday. (Wah! Birthday on Valentine's Day!)
Thus, her boss bought some chocalates from The Cocoa Trees, so that she can get her caricature done for free, as her birthday gift.
She is pretty excited it comes to her turn.
Eh... didn't notice he closed his eyes when I snapped.
I like this one.
Job done!
The setup at this outlet in Raffles City.
This photographer has a digital printer.
That's why you see the digital photos printed out in this session again.
One more snap, for remembrance, before I leave.

Caricature live sketching for The Cocoa Trees - part 2
Supposedly a 2-hour event (1pm - 3pm) at this outlet at VivoCity today, but was extended for another 30 mins, due to popular demand.
Anyway, I still have enough time for my lunch, buy Valentine's Day present for my wife, before moving on to outlet at Raffles City for the last part of this project at 5pm.
My client who contacted me for this job.
Get her caricature done before the crowd comes in.
The branch manager.
The photographer for this session.
First customer.
The gentleman can really smile throughout the whole sketching process.
This made my job easier, and thus the caricature turned out better.
Of course, he needs to have distinct features too.
This was a fun job. Easy-to-sketch and happy subject.
Here came the challenge - sketching couple using brush on a A4 size paper.
Not as hard as what I have expected.
So far so good. Phew!
Then came this couple.
Fun job again.
Distinctive and unique features + smiling all the way to the end subject.
What more can I ask for?
The usual case - once I have sketched 1-2 couples, the rest of the couple would like to get one caricature for themselves too, especially on a Valentine's Day.
This reminded me of the day when I was drawing in Clarke Quay and in Orchard Road.
Another couple.
Last one for this session.

My iPhone 3G
Right after my mobile handphone contract ended with Starhub yesterday, I went to Singtel to get my hands on the Apple iPhone 3G. Hahaha.... really cannot tahan liao.
Think I am addict to be connected (online).
Can't stand the feeling of without being able to check my emails, surf net for information, MSN etc, when I am outside.
Looking at my Starhub bill, I need to fork out about $38 monthly.
This basic iFlexi value plan costs me $56 monthly, i.e. $18 more every month, $0.60 more everyday, but double the talktime of 200 mins and 5x of sms more (500 sms).
Upon signing the contract with Singtel, they told me that I am entitled a 10% off my existing monthly subscription.
Wow!
Only drawback is the 300mb bundled data, which may not be enough for me, given that some of my emails with attachments, are quite large in file size.
Hack care liao, since that Singtel staff told me that the 1gb bundled data won't be back so soon.
A reward for me while I am drawing (working hard) for events. Hahaha...
Just nice to keep me entertained before the events start.
I managed to jailbreak my iPhone 2G (to firmware version 2.0.2) 2 weeks ago, and spent 2 weekends installing all those new fantastic applications and games, which are not possible with the original firmware of version 1.1.4.
Now it looks more like a PSP to me.
This iPhone 3G (firmware 2.2) going to be all 'legal' stuff :))) (not going to risk my warranty)
And I installed those applications like Trapstar, iToday, TraffiCam etc which are not possible on iPhone 2G.
Quite sinful to have 2 iPhone in pocket.... but don't want to waste my time with those Telco companies, without contract (and no goodies...)
#At time of post (4th March 09), I managed to get Singtel to give me 1gb bundled data on Monday, after I saw the promotion in Bishan Junction 8 last Friday. Nearly jumped up, as the staff from Hello Singtel told me the promotion wouldn't be back so soon. Now, it came back in less than 2 weeks!!! Real happy and satisfied now, as I don't have to hold back my usage of 3G data from now on. 1GB is definitely more than enough for me, for sure....... and I hope so.:____

Caricature live sketching for The Cocoa Trees - part 1
A 2-day event, 3 sessions for The Cocoa Trees.
Today's session was 7pm - 9pm, at Vivocity.
Customers who spent $22 are entitled a free caricature
Members need to spend $18 will get similar offer.
It was a promotion for Valentine's Day by The Cocoa Trees.
First customer.
While I was sketching, the shoppers sstarted to crowd around.
After she collected her caricature, the crowd disappeared.
Thus, one of the staff volunteered to have his caricature drawn to draw the crowd back.
The setup around me. Only realised it when I have time to walk around.
Hmmm.... The client told me that she would need some caricatures from my website for their display.
Thought they would take the celebrity caricatures.
Didn't know they used one of my clients' caricatures.
Hope the latter won't mind.
To my surprise, this Japanese-like lady is an Indonesian Chinese.
Since the start of drawing this couple, the queue literally didn't stop.
Thought response will not be too good during this recession.
On second thought, Valentine's Day only comes once a year.
$22/$44 was not much to those loving couples.
This caricature marked a milestone in my live caricatue sketching career.
I used the brush which I used for the XL Insurance event, for the entire caricature, without the usual fountain pen which I used.
Looking at his features, I think I will have an easy start with this tool.
True enough, everything turned out smoothly, without any hiccup.
My only worry on the fine lines can't be easily done with the brush, but I didn't really encounter that. Now the bold stroke turned out to be the thickness I want, which th efountain pen can't do.
The fine lines can be so fine that the fountain pen cannot achieve.
Now, the strokes looked much more alive, and the wonderful part was that I can get the caricature in an even shorter time.
I have been using brush + G pen for my caricature artworks, drawing from photos, but I have never tried it for live caricature sketching. This demands a lot of concentration and control of the brush strength. I wanted to use in the event for Marina Square (I bought this brush on that day!), but didn't have the chance and confidence at that time.
Getting more confidence in using this brush, as I moved on with more caricatures.
Sisters. Look alike, right?
Shy girl, who didn't want to appeared in photo.
Of course, I managed to take a snapshot, as you can see.:)))
For record purposes and portfolio seak.
As I moved on, now my worry was - can I still use the brush for couples?
Same paper size of A4, but got to squeeze in 2 people, the difficulty could be 2 times more.
Had a break, as the queue ended.
Took a snapshot of this outlet in Vivocity.
The photographer snapped and printed out the photos of the customers with their caricatures.
Good record and display of what has been done for potential customers.
The brush was especially good in curvy lines.
No weak lines, and you can see the caricature even when you viewed it from far.
Think I should use it for my future events, until I want a change in the tools I used, or when I have new inspirations.
Job done for the day, and I will be coming back tomorrow for another session in the afternoon.
Happy day, as I found something new for my live caricature sketching career.
Fast and I don't feel so much stress with the brush (vs teh fountain pen) when I draw for long hours.
