每一趟回去关丹必停之处。光顾了这一摊位处柔佛再也Johor Jaya (面向大路) 的牛肉面已有十多年之久,犹记得第一次是老爸老妈带我来的。

Out of town from 29th July 2007 till 4th Aug 2007

Going back to my hometown - Kuantan, Malaysia, for about a week.
Considered a break, but still need to finish the P&G group caricatures before I come back.
Portrait Workshop will be closed from 30th July 2007 till 3rd Aug 2007.
Business will resume on 6th Aug 2007.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Using dial-up instead of broadband there.
Thus, don't think I can post up photos so often this period.
But at least better than the period in Pietra Ligure, Italy.
Good enough for me to check emails and post up some updates.

Caricature live sketching for HealthStats International Pte Ltd

Long name for this event -
BPro Centre Inaugration Evening By HealthSTATS International Pte Ltd.
Venue: Raffles Town Club.
Time: 6pm - 9pm

This was the big watch model on display. The actual wrist watch can measure your blood pressure. Wondering those people with high blood pressure will wear it like normal watch. Seeing your blood pressure staying high all the time can be a torture. Hahaha....

The event organiser for this show, but Healthstats looked for us (Reggie and me) directly.

Think this is the company's photographer. His Nikon D100 bought around 405 years ago cost him $4900!!! Scary!!! So expensive. Think Wilfred's D100 cost less than $2k, though second hand and bought 2 years ago.

The client who engaged me.
He had one pencil caricature done (with frame) by me about 3-4 years ago at the GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) conference event either at Suntec Convention Centre or Raffles City (can't remember). So he was looking at the same kind for his company event this time. But I am doing it in ink now. The response was pretty good.
He contacted me through email while I was in Italy last month.

Quiet a good one to me.

His wife.

One of my favourites for this event.

More comical version of this gentleman.

The reporter. Will I see my works on any magazine or newspaper?
Think I will miss it even if it is really being published, as I will be away to Kuantan for 1 week.

Funny bounced flash effect on the caricatures. Still haven't read through the whole manual yet.
No time...... Sigh.............

Met this gentleman, Winston Choo from August Consultancy.
Done a court scene illustration job for him in March last year.

I like this caricature!!! Hahaha......

Caricature for Cologne Reinsurance Company Plc

A gift for this gentleman's retirement. The client is bringing this caricature over to Australia to him. Initially wanted to frame it before going over, but worried that there may be raw material restriction at the Australia Custom.

Caricatures for ABN-AMRO

A farewell gift.
Got the feedback from the client that I have drawn the wrong person, due to communication error.
Sigh..... Can only settle it when I am back.

Caricature in colour

Another order from this client for that gentleman's wife..

Caricature in ink

Straight-forward job! Nothing much to say.

Caricature theme - video editor

The client is a video editor. She intends to use this caricature on her business card.
She requested 2 Macintosh monitors in front of her. I added in a video camera in her hand. This makes her more like a video editor.

Caricatures for Fullerton Hotel

A farewell gift to the waving guy (second man of the Fullerton Hotel) in this convertible black Mercedes. He will be going to another hotel.
The client's initial idea was to have all of them standing in front of the Fullerton Hotel. Rather boring to me....
I proposed to have the secretary doing shorthand, Concierge Manager and Room Service Manager next to him, in welcoming postures. Then the Housekeeping Manager with a duster, Engineer Manager with a spanner, IT Manager with a Blackberry, and the security Manager with a walkie-talkie. He's happy about it and agreed.

Caricatures in pencil

Cleared these caricature orders. More to go for this week, before I go for holiday this weekend.

Caricature theme - graduation

Client's request:-

"In Graduation gown , the scroll and hat
Backdrop: Would you be able to draw like a banner saying graduation and she is seen running through it like a marathon? "

Put the banner on the waist level, instead of the top. Graphically looks better.

Caricatures for RSAF Aeromedical Centre

Clent's brief:-

"Need a big favour to provide 2 caricatures for our friends leaving. Chinyi is the i/c photo girl. Her nickname is Dory (from the movie finding Nemo). So it would be good if you could show her swimming with Dory. Eunice is the girl in blue in the other photo. She is our admin officer in Aeromedical centre. So a caricature of her standing in front of the aeromedical centre looking cute would be nice (pls do not draw the chairs outside the aeromedical centre."

Deliberately make the Dory bigger, so that it won't be played down in the caricature, given that it is one of the main subjects.

Proposed to have her sitting in front of her computer, busy typing and phone ringing, perspiring, rather than standing in front of the RSAF Aeromedical Centre, which will be too boring.

Caricature theme -Malay wedding

Used for their wedding signature board.
The bride used a makeover photo of her for me to draw.
Quite a big different from her actual look.
She chose and insisted to use it. Ok loh! But I did tell her that cannot complain that the caricature doesn't look like her, as I can't relate the makeover photo of her with the real person.
Luckily, no complains from her after the collection by the groom.

Caricature live sketching for Mazda Singapore D&D

Title of this event :- " A night of Comedy & Laughter - 17th Staff Annual Dinner'
Venue: Pan Pacific Hotel, Ocean Ballroom.
Time: 6:30pm - 7:30pm
But didn't start at 6:30pm, buy about 13 mins later.
Not that I was late, but due to some sensitive reasons which I won't reveal it here for the time being. Tell you more about what's happening in this industry later, if you do follow my blog.

These whole bunch of guests were more interesting to sketch, as compared to the kids in the previous 2 birthday parties. Not only because of their more define features, they were more keen to get their caricatures sketched. Beside these, they can keep still too. No wonder time went by fast for this event.

A good start. Enjoyed the sketching process.

A comical face. Fun to sketch too!

Quite close resemblance, right?

Meant to be the last one for this event. But.....

The Managing Director's wife. An exceptional case, as time was up. She said can't recognise herself from the caricature. Usually their impression of their face were different from the impression we (third party/artist) had of them. In fact, when the features did look like them, but not complementary, they will gave this answer. My past 13 years experience, especially in live sketching. Frankly speaking, this caricature does look like her. What do you think?
