"The followings are some ideas of what I want of his caricature:

1. Chris doing a superman flying posture and wearing a t-shirt with our Skype logo (can be found in my sign-off)

Caricature theme - cycling @ East Coast Park

Client's brief:-
"Trying to come out with some descriptions to you... Here it goes:

- Cycling at East Coast Park. With some Casuarina trees somewhere at the background.
- I am cycling in front. In a BMX rental bicycle.
- With a Triangle P plate (aka just pass driving plate) hanging near the seat bottom of the bike (place where the red reflect plate normally is).
- My bike will have a front black basket which normally hang a baby blue sports towel + with a water bottle dump in the basket. (See attached bottle, in Excel Sheet)
- I'm in brown collar shirt and jeans shorts. In white/blue stripes rubble sandals with back strap.
- Wearing khaki Nike cap.

- He is cycling behind me. In a similar but higher bicycle too.
- His bicycle has the traffic police motor bike light signal behind ("Red signal blub like on a wire rod"). See attach, in Excel Sheet.
- He will sling the Canon 1D camera across the chest like a bag. (with Canon EOS strap. See attached, in Excel Sheet)
- He in maroon polo shirt with 3/4 khaki pants. In sports shoes.
- Wearing a EOS black cap.

Both of us love watermelons. Any ideas to incorporate it somewhere~?

At the right-bottom hand corner, please put the text as follows in Blue:

Here comes the exciting part of this sketch.

Block in the colours.... and blending.....

Texturing the most interesting part - his skin.

This feeling is so shiok!!!

Refined it, and added in the background.

More details on the body, and also his huge tattoo on the chest, and arms.
This caricature was submitted to a contest in Caricaturama Showdown 3000!
The result was really out of my expectation (which I should be happy if I can get a few votes from the caricaturists).

Client's brief:-
"Hi Jit,
Samuel here. I bought a caricature from you a couple of years back. Please see below.
I hope you are still in the business of doing caricatures. Another colleague of mine is leaving, and we would like a colour caricature of her A3 sized. Let me know if you can do it....

....As for the look and feel of the caricature, I was doing abit more thinking – ok I think we can keep to one building, i.e. White House. I’m picturing my colleague standing in front of the White House. So the White House is in the background, and she is standing on the White House garden.

Was hoping to have 2 fluttering flags – US and Singapore on the caricature too. Can either be drawn in the sky or as flag poles on the White House garden where she is standing."

Caricature theme - Hooked on Love

Client's brief:-
"Hi,

I saw your post on the Caricature theme - Wedding in winter sonata and really love the rubber stamp. My husband-to-be and I will be holding our wedding on 12 Sept 2010 and I would like to make a rubber stamp to be stamped on envelopes for our invites.

My husband-to-be is a huge fishing fanatic and to surprise him, I want to incorporate some form of fishing into the caricature.

Groom
- in shirt / suit
- holding a fishing rod on his right hand

Bride
- in a tube gown with tiara on head
- holding a fish on her left hand

Text at the bottom
"Hooked on Love"

My proposal:-
"What about having you as mermaid in his hand, or you been hooked out of the
water by him, but the hook is on a seashell n your hand?"

Can I have my husband-to-be, in this pose, holding on to a rod. The hook will be a diamond ring on my finger.

And he will be dressed in a suit, while I will be dressed in a wedding gown with a small tiara on head. Will this be possible?"




Printed on pink rubber stamp (on the right), without ink refill.

The red rubber stamp on the left was for another client.
They requested for the 3x4cm stamp, but the stock hasn't arrive yet.
Thus they changed their mind to take teh 3x3cm stamp.

Did some skech studies of his face on the iPad Sketchbook Pro.



I like this.


However, I chose this one to work in Photoshop eventually, with the Cintiq, since this is my impression of this celebrity.

My hands became itchy upon seeing his interesting features, especially his coarse skin. :D

And it happened that there's a drawing contest at Caricaturama Showdown 3000! on Facebook.
If I can make it in time, I would participate. If I can't make it in time, I will still complete it with colours, simply because I want to try out another painting method. Hopefully, I can create something different from my past painting style.

My caricaturist friend, Mr William Fiesterman, introduced a video capture program to me for capturing the digital sketching and painting process. Another itchy finger attempt. I did it to show how my sketches are done. It is a fast forward video (speed drawing). I don't sketch so fast.:D
The actual sketch took me about 35 minutes.

Caricature theme- running

Client's brief:-
"I would like to do a caricature for my manager who is leaving the department.
Attached is the photo of her. She is the lady with the little girl.
I would like the theme to be associated with running as she is a good marathon runner.
Can it be done in A4 and frame up?......
I would like the back ground of the caricature to be that of a chemical process plant or refinery. However, the loop reactors (shown in photos titled "reactors" and "reactors 2" have to be included in the backdrop as these are distinctive features of our plant which I would like to capture.
She could be wearing sports attire as shown in IMG_004 and running across."

Refining the hand, clothings and blocking in the shades of the pistol.

Took out the dove, because of this blood splash. Don't want to make it too bloody.:D

Quite a good progress from the previous drawing, I think.

Caricatures for Singapore Exchange (SGX) and CNBC

This job was rather stressful, as the client was not happy with the sketch done by another caricaturist (not sure who he/she is), and came to me. It was more depressing, as before I started on the pencil sketch, I was told that there will definitely be changes to it.
This was my challenge - to aim for no changes!

I spent quite some time on this pencil sketch. Just need to make sure that the resemblance of these CNBC news reporters are there, and the rest all properly done up, including the SGX building. (Previous piece was a photo super-imposed in the background)
The framing lady will insert a banner like what you see on CNBC channel, with price quotes and latest news update. But for this one, they will put 'live broadcast from SGX".

It is meant to be a gift from SGX to CNBC to welcome them to do live broadcast in SGX.

Ï am lucky.

Caricature theme - Ski + Singlish + "The Sail"

Client's client:-
"Jit,
As spoken, we need a caricature for a friend who is leaving Singapore back to Europe.
Colour with marker, A3 with the following details.

So details we want to include

1. SQ plane (must show that it is SQ).
2. Sunny Singapore Island- Merlion, ERP, dim sum, flyer, "The Sail" (the condo). Condo must have, the rest up to you. But idea is to be representative of Singapore.

3. Character should be wearing ear plugs.
4. One hand has ice-cream cone, the other hand will have a yellow gym bag. In this bag, there will be a book about "Singlish".
5. He should be wearing a t-shirt which says "I Love RAU". Similar to the I love NYC tee-shirt.
6. He must be wearing snow skis."


Lots of stuff, but I selectively picked the more important items.

"Wow! Very nicely done! Next time we will get in touch with you again!"

I'm the one who called you yesterday. I have a colleague who will be leaving us on last week of May. Hence, I need this caricature protait on last week of May. Not sure if you have enough time for this task.

The subject peron's name is Wong Fui Sun. I have a few pictures of him.

1) Smiling Wong Fui Sun, I have marked with a red arrow on the top of his head.
2) Original picture of the 1st one; so that is clearer to you.
3) Wong Fui Sun running for Adidas Marathon.

He also likes to play golf. This might be an alternative theme. On the picture itself I may like to inlcude short sentence of encouragements and our P+F logo . Can you give me a quotation and whether is the time enough to acomplish this task."

Pogo pogo...... George Lam cariature

I bought the Pogo stylus and tried painting with it.
So much smoother than that rubber-nipped stylus.
This was a sponge"-nipped, No matter how I see it, it still looks like an eraser on the pencil which we use during our childhood.
Think I got to overcome this psychological barrier.....

Caricature live sketching for Cold Storage Kids Run 2010

A 3-hour gig (9am - 12pm) next to F1 Pit Building (besides Singapore Flyer).
As this was a big event, and the client required 3 caricaturists to cater for the big crowd. I got Reggie and Welles to partner me.


This was the mascot I was commissioned to do for their event, done in vector file format.
This will be printed on the drawing paper which we will be sketching on.


We were arranged to be seated under the tentage. But these people were not so lucky, no chair for them, and they have to stand under the hot sun, to get their caricatures done. To be the free caricature, they need to produce a Cold Storage receipt of any amount.

Not only this was a hot weather, the sun was glaring too.

Most of them were frowning when they were being sketched.:D

My Nikon camera failed on me again, after several shots. Think it is complaining about the hot weather too. I got to snap with my iPhone.
















This was one of my favourite for this gig - his hair style.:)
