Client's brief:-
"......cartoon drawing for my wedding which is on 5th Dec 2009. I saw you website and like the drawing which is the wedding. Mine will be in Malay concept. I will be displaying them in front of my wedding dias. Need like A3 size...."


Green-colour scheme for this Malay wedding couple caricatures, as requested by them.

Caricature theme - wedding on vespa

Client's brief:-
"Caricature in colour marker with theme - with background & body

attached is our photo. below requirement need to input in:

1) photo of us in wedding dress (as attached) but both wedding dress in red colour.
2) riding vespa.(white colour ok) i'm the rider she's the pillion. license plate our wedding date 22/11/09
3) backgound in kampung scenario."


I think this caricature looks quite good in ink outline alone.
Thus, took a snapshot of it at this stage.


Of course, the caricatures looks better with colours added in.
As usual, the wedding costumes took up more time than the rest.
Looks like my clients know how to choose what they want, after looking through the clients' briefs on this blog.:D
Getting more and more precise briefs recently.

This caricature in pencil was meant to be used for printing on this couple's wedding invitation cards. They opted for it to be done in black and white pencil, though I recommended to have it done in colour, which will look a lot better. Their wedding will be held in Singapore, but he proposed to her in Kuala Lumpur (KL) Tower, Malaysia. Thus, they wanted the KL tower in the background and they will be dressed in Malay wedding costumes (Baju Kahwin?).

A wedding gift for her sister and brother-in-law.
She saw asimilar design on my blog, but requested to take out the church in the background, and change the western wedding suit to the Malay wedding costume.

Caricature theme - Knight & Princess wedding

Client's brief:-
"Hi Jit,
We love your caricatures and would love to get your masterpiece for our big day on 01 May 2011.
We would like to have a romantic fairy tale caricature (in colour) done in A3.
Can this size be place in front of our malay wedding dais?
I’ve also attached some pictures for your reference.


Our fairy tale wedding theme:
1. Herman (right side) & Rila (left side) will be standing in front of a Disney castle with green scenery.
2. Groom in knight in shining armour holding his battle helmet on his right hand & holding the bride’s hand on the left.
3. Bride will be in white wedding gown similar wedding pattern to Princess Belle as per attached (Beauty.jpeg) & prefer some red line/roses(similar to attached file) on the white gown that will match the rose bouquet, with a tiara on her head and with a veil.Bride's left hand will be holding a rose red bouquet.
4. Behind the groom will be a brown horse.
5. Prefer our faces to be smiling lovingly.
6. Please also include the words: Herman & Rila 01 May 2011"



Client's response upon receiving this caricature:-
"Hahaha....so cute!"

She dropped me an email subsequently:-

Caricature theme - wedding @ Fullerton Hotel

Client's brief:-
"My Theme: me(in suit as attached) and wife (in her traditional wedding dress).
we would be standing on the side of the car. Background of fullerton would be great.

Pls do recommend on what colour should her dress and mine suit be that you think

would be nice to blend with the background and car."


Guess what I like and don't like to draw here?
I like the draw the bride's wedding gown.
I hate to draw the Fullerton Hotel.
Got to slowly study the form and structure before I start drawing.
I always leave it to the last.:D

Order from the same client, just that she needs the previous caricatures for his sister and brother-in-law's wedding first.

This one is a gift for her parents 32nd wedding anniversary.
Spent some time putting the floral pattern on the lady's wedding gown, using finer lines.
Quite satisfied with the outcome. Not so empty too.

They gave me references on the green wedding suit and the bike.

Wanted a beach setting.

Think they will be putting it at their wedding hall, if I remembered correctly.

This client was in fact on the way to collect it while I called her mobile.

As she needed it to be frame, I can only give it to her tomorrow.

It was meant for their wedding.

The building in the background was Northland Secondary(?) School. Think it should be where they first met each other. The circle on the left was their school badge. The wedding gown etc was based on the reference from the magazine provided by them. I changed the colour scheme, based on what they requested.

Client's brief:-
"Hi Jit,
As spoken to you the other day and via sms, attached are the pictures of myself and my fiancee.

1) We would like to have ourselves drawn on the attached black & white scrambler pix with my fiancee riding and me the gal as pillion.

2) The background will be Orchard town area with Cathay Cineileisure as 1 of the prominent buildings coz we first met there.

3) We would like to have our wedding date written on the front number plate of the bike (01-05-2010) and our names on the exhaust pipe of the bike
(NOR LIZA & ABDILLAH)

4) Our pix should be similar to your previously drawn customer as in pix 2 except that ours will be a mirror image facing the opposite direction with both our faces clearly displayed.

Bride's details:

1) For my features, pls refer to the Main Female Pix for close-up features. I would like to have my hair long and curly in light brown with blonde and red highlights. My lips will be shining pink lip gloss

2) For my costume, it will be Pix fyi8 design but blue in colour as per attached. Similar for my fiancee. For my sleeves, they will be long and split at the ends but not for my fiancee.

3) For my hair, it will be done up as in Pix fyi9 and the pix fyi2, fyi3 and fyi5 as reference with the red roses on the left side of my head and my hair costume jewellery in gold on the right side of my head.

4)My left hand will be holding on to my fiancee and my right hand will be stretched out while holding a bouquet of red and pink roses.

5) My shoes will be silver with diamante and "bling-bling".

6) I would like to have my long "dropped-down" earrings and necklace drawn too, all in silver white diamante and "bling-bling".

Groom's details:

1) For the main features, pls refer to Main Male Pix attached but costume will be in blue as stated above.

2) He will be wearing a black "songkok", the headgear for the Muslim males as in Pix 2 with a diamond brooch attached also "bling-bling".

3) The design of his costume should be similar to my malay costume as in Pix fyi8

4) His left hand will be controlling the bike while his right hand will be doing a "Peace-2 finger" gesture similar to the pix attached.

5) His smart shoes will be black."

Subsequent order from the same client:-
"Hi Jit,

I hope you can do one for my future sister-in-law too who is getting married on the same day as me.

- Caricature in colour marker with theme.
- Full-length similar to photo dress_color_style.jpg. The bride’s hand on the groom’s shoulder I find is a bit awkward and their pose is rather stiff. Could you instead use something similar to pose.jpg. Something more intimate. I leave to your good advise.
- Same colour for the wedding outfit and everything as dress_color_style.jpg. I.e. creamy with gold embroidery. I know the picture is not very helpful as it is quite blur but that is the pic given to me, the outfit she will be wearing. Basically a flowery embroidery for the bride’s outfit like dress_flower_details.jpg.
- Bride & groom pic as attached."


The colour they have chosen (as in the photo provided) is creamy white.
As such, it looks rather pale, as compared to the other job.
However, the mix-and-match of the posture and wedding gown design took up some time from me. Not so straightforward as my usual job.

I’m feeling so excited cos finally after browsing your site for months and finally the day is here I’m getting my caricature done by you for our wedding reception in October this year!
Love, love, love your work, Jit! And I believe you can do a lovely work for us! Can get it ready by tomorrow? Hehe. Just kidding!

Ok, so here some description for the caricature:-

- Caricature in colour marker with theme
- Full-length similar to photo couple_fullbody.jpg. This photo isn’t ours actually. But since we will be wearing the same kind of traditional outfit, thus took this photo taken from the net.
- Same colour for the wedding outfit and everything. Just replace their beautiful faces with ours..hehe
- Bride (filename: wi_left1.jpg) and Groom (filename: wiwis.jpg / wis_right1.jpg) smile evidently though not so WIDE, beaming smile but just a nice set of perfect teeth showing, charmingly and sweetly..
- I’m not sure what background I can use. But if it looks alright simple & plain. Then plain is shall be. :) For your kind advise ya.

Kindly let me know if all above is fine and quote me pls for A3 and A2-size drawing with burn on cd."


Looks simple, but the time and effort spent on the clothing and headset details really can kill.
Once in a while is fine, I think.
Not every order please.
Psychologically, I may not be able to take it.:D

Manchester United Malay wedding couple caricatures @ Old Trafford Stadium

Client's brief:-
"....I want the groom to score the ball towards the goal post.
Perhaps the couple can at least hold hands together.
Will that be ok?
Since I want the groom to wear tuxedo with a touch of Man-U theme, western type dress will best suit the bride.
Attached is one of the dress that she'll be wearing. Perhaps you can use that and add a touch of Man-u theme as well. (can replace the black to red)"


Client's feedback:-

Caricature theme -Malay wedding

Used for their wedding signature board.
The bride used a makeover photo of her for me to draw.
Quite a big different from her actual look.
She chose and insisted to use it. Ok loh! But I did tell her that cannot complain that the caricature doesn't look like her, as I can't relate the makeover photo of her with the real person.
Luckily, no complains from her after the collection by the groom.

Remember me... from Costa Sands Resort.. you did caricature for us last June.

Today, i have a special request from you.

My friend's wedding is coming up this Oct 17... I hope you have enough time to complete. I would like to give a caricature drawing of the couple as a gift and for her to put at the entrance of the reception.....

I would like the caricature to be drawn in the modern western concept. The bride in white gown and the groom in the black and white suit.

The background i would like it to be on a full bed of bright red roses and beautiful sky. Romantic feel... "


This wedding caricatures turned out quite good to me.
Their features ain't hard to capture, despite the groom's photo was quie out of focus.

Happened to see this photo on my Facebook home page.
One of my clients - Razhia Bee Bte Gausmiah post up some of her wedding photos few years back. I was quite excited when I saw it. She agreed to let me post it here.

Something different.
Most of the time, I see my artworks either on my drawing desk, or framed up, but not at client's wedding reception.

This caricature was done about 3 years ago.

Caricature theme - fishing

Got the shock of my day when I received email from this client when she checked with me whether she can collect it today. Searched through my work schedule inbox, but couldn't find her order. Searched through my folder which I brought it with me everyday. A stack of photos dropped out, and I found it and the other Malay wedding order, which were meant to be ready for collection yesterday and today. Damn...... They were in my folder since last Friday, and meant to be done over the weekend, if possible. Just that I have many other orders to be cleared, and I missed out these 2 orders. Wanted to finish them earlier, and in the end - LATE!!!

Called her and agreed to be ready for collection 4 hours later. Usually I only need 2 hours or less for such caricatures. Requested for 4 hours so that I can make sure that I am not rushing it out, sacrificing on the quality.

Back to the caricatures, think this was meant as a birthday gift. They like fishing at Bedok Jetty at East Coast Park. (Nice fish, right? I like the colouring part.) I used to do so, but stopped when my finger was hooked accidentally by a lady who walked past. Her leg was entangled by the fishing line, and she didn't realise it. I was putting in the bait, and because of that jerk, the hook went through my finger and it became a bait...... Sigh... because of that pain, I stopped fishing. I can very well understand how the fish will feel when being hooked.

This client walked in and placed order few weeks back. She visited and my website and realised that I was from NUS, School of Architecture. And she was my junior (think about 5 years difference?). Ooh! What was so coincidental was that we were from the same tutor in Year One - Mr Robert Teh?!!! Heard from my Archi friend that he is working as an architect now, no longer a tutor in NUS. No mood to talk about him yet....... Hahaha......

"....I'm fine with the frame similar to one of your clients (Razhia Bee Bte Gausmiah) on your website coz I'm gonna display it at my wedding reception too. I attach both our photos, was thinking of both of us on a bike (bike model:Spark, will email the photo of the bike to you soon) juz like my sister's...."

Caricature theme - wedding on fire engine

This Malay couple intends to display this caricature at their wedding dinner.
A rather unique one, as this time is on a fire engine, as the groom is a fireman from Civil Defence.
