Brief of this US client:-
"Hi Chong
I visited your website and was impressed by the quality and professionalism of your artwork. I am interested in having you develop a caricature in colour marker with theme body and background for me. I wanted to get a little more information from you about how I should best communicate to you my intentions for what to include in the caricature sketch. The general idea is that it would include me and my girlfriend, with me on one knee proposing marriage to her, with lake and mountains background. I have a few photos I can provide which show some of the specific imagery I'd like in the background, as well as photos of each of us......
It should be in landscape format. It will include me and my girlfriend, with me down on one knee proposing marriage to her. I will be looking at her and presenting a large sparkling diamond ring, with a bubble coming from my head saying "Today, Tomorrow, and Forever". She will be standing with a happily surprised look on her face. I have attached three photographs to help. The photo called "Angie.JPG" is what she looks like. Please sketch her to look like this photo, wearing the same black shirt and jeans. The photo called "Andy.JPG" is what I look like. As far as how I am dressed in your sketch, please have me wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans as shown in the photo "Angie and Andy.JPG".
We will be on a wooden pier over a lake. The background should be a large lake, with forested hills beyond it (see example in the attached photo called: "Lake and Trees Background.JPG"). Beyond the hills on the right-hand portion of the sketch there should be two snow-capped mountain peaks with the sun setting in between them. The sky should be the color of a sunset. Beyond the hills on the left-hand portion of the sketch, there should be an image of the top half of the Space Needle (see attached photo called: "Space Needle.JPG"). On the lake, please include a sailboat."
Looking at the brief, for sure certain requests can't be fulfilled - eg. "..a happily surprised look on her face.." and ".....I will be looking at her....." since the photos provided don't have such expression or such angle.
Whenever I see such a detail brief, I will be on my toes, knowing that such clients have high expectations for the drawing, and they have already painted the picture in their mind.
This client wanted a softcopy and the original artwork (hardcopy) to be sent to him.
Since the high resolution softcopy ismore than 70mb, I can only upload it to me server for him to download, and send him the artwork via non-express but registered mail.
Feedback from the client:-
"......... It truly is a great sketch and I want you to know that I really appreciate your effort. I look forward to receive the hard print. And I also look forward to working with you again in the future."
