Some illustrations showing the progress of how to construct and derive this artwork. Initially thought I had to do it freehand on paper, scanned in and edit in photoshop. I started from backwards by constructing everything first (fourth graphic), using Macromedia Freehand. Surprisingly, even the sketch line effects can be done with this software.
