Another one hour Caricature Workshop (11am - 12pm) for The British Club, after the Caricature Workshop for AIA about 1 month ago.
The students are a lot younger, starting from 5 years old! Wow, that's a challenge as it could be hard for kids at this age to understand some terms and rationales behind. Thus, I got to simplify them further.
After some theory, time to do some hands-on drawing. This is the most important and most interesting part of this workshop. At the end of it, everyone of them will be bringing one caricature drawn by them out of this room.:)
During the step-by-step demonstration, I come round to guide every students, to make sure that they are on the right track.....
These kids are really concentrating on their drawings....:D
Finishing up the caricature demonstration.... I bet you can see which subject I have chosen here.....
Class photo!
This is the subject which I think they should be familiar with (maybe not the youngest student) - Michael Jackson! I simplified it further, giving him bigger eyes, kept the small pointed nose, wide lips and his centre-parting hairstyle.
This is what I have prepared before the workshop, and video which I have promised the students to post it up on my blog, so that they can still follow the steps again after the workshop.
I started with a light pencil sketch, and darken the lines with ink. I simplified it further with lesser lines in the final drawing. Enjoy!
A short clip of this caricature workshop.
