Caricature theme - traditional Indian wedding

Client's brief:-
"Hi Jit,

Here are the details of the photos attached:

1. Bride: That is the photo of my fiance.
2. Indian bridal ..blah blah...blah : thats the jewellery my fiance wants in the photos
3. Dhiraj: My photo
4. DSC_0059 : Our photo
5. Indian wedding caricature: that is the caricature you had drawn for one of your clients
6. Height Difference: Just added a photo so that you could get the idea of our heights, though i dont know whether you would need those details.
7. lord ganesha: the idol of our god.
8. South indian lamp: the photo of the lamp that is used in our weddings.

Details of the caricature:
In the photo of indian wedding caricature that you have drawn before we like most of the elements there, however we might need some small changes to make it our own

Bride Details
1. Please keep the pose same ( I mean in the caricature i should be carrying her in my arms just the way you have done it for one of your clients)
2. the jewellery should be like what we have given in the photo attached. the nose ring , earnings and the jewellery on the head should be the same if you can detail at that level.
3. keep the bridal wear ( clothes) the same as in your caricature ( red with golden touches). No green.
4. the garland around the bride and groom's neck should be in red and white and not in green and yellow like in your caricature
Please keep the rest of the detailing the same as in your caricature

Groom Details :
1. please keep the same pose
2. the clothing also the same ( golden kurta and boots). The boots should be the same way as in your caricature.
3. I dont want the red spot ( tilak ) on the head.and of course do not show the one or two grey hair I have :)) in the photos

Please make sure we both have a beautiful smile in the caricature.

Background details:
1. Please have the elephant in the same way but have it on both the sides( left and right). you could try and add your touch in making it grander if you want.
2. The drapings on the side can be of red/ golden colour like in your caricature.
3. the background can be the same. dark blue with little stars. Please add a half moon in the background.the moon should be smiling as well.
4. the table on the side should have lord ganesha on it just the way you have done it for your client.you could use the picture that i have provided.
5. Please make a chocolate fountain on the side next to lord ganesha.
6. Please add the south indian lamp on the right side in front of the drapings on the right(when I am saying right it is to my right looking at the photo). Of course it should be lit as well.

Overall everything remains pretty much the same that you have done it for your earlier client. Just minute touches here and there.
These are the details. Please give us a call for anything you want to know.

Our wedding is in the first week of december and we would like to have this caricature done by Nov 15th ( three weeks) from now as we have to give it for printing as well.

Please let us know the price and how to transfer it to your account. We hope that you give us a good price. This is beautiful art and needs to appreciated and bargaining would demean the whole art and artist."

As I go on reading the brief, The more I feel stressed up.:D
Previous drawing (which this client wanted to use as the base reference) was already a tough job. This one has different additional requests. My worry is that I missed out all the minor details he requested. On top of that, referring to all these details took out a substantial amount of my drawing time. Thus, this drawing took even more time than the previous one. Sweat!

Took a snapshot of this ink artwork, as I think it looks good on its own.

Of course, the colour version looks even better! And more time needed on the textile pattern and detailing.

Client's response:-
"It's very nice!"

Caricature theme - traditional Indian wedding

Client's brief:-
"I was looking on the internet for different invitiation options and I saw your caricature of the Indian couple getting married.

We are also Indian, and we would like to use caricatures for the engagement party invitations....

I would like to get the Indian Wedding style caricature done as seen on your website.

I have attached (1st Attachment) the copy of the Indian caricature you have already made - and that is the one I will be referencing up on what changes I would like to make.

1. I would like to keep the layout of the bride/groom and clothing, the curtains, the Indian lamp (also lit), the table with the Lord Ganesha statue - elephant statue (no chocolate fountain)

2. I would like to remove the elephant in the background & the moon/clouds.

3. I would like to change the night theme - to a day time theme on the beach - so the picture will look as if we are on the beach since the wedding will be on the beach at sunset -- I have attached a picture of the beach/sunset type feel we are going for (attachment 2) - please add birds in the sky as you see fit.

4. Grooms Face - I have attached 3 pictures of myself - please keep me clean shaven in the pictures - the attachments may show a little scruff that I do not wish to have in the caricature - just as the picture - I do not want a red dot on my forehead.

5. Brides Face - I have attached 2 pictures of my fiance (both sides of her face). She would like the same dress and jewelery (earrings and tilak jewelery on forehead) EXCEPT NO NOSE RING, please. She is making me also tell you to not make her ugly - haha.

That should be everything. Please, feel free to make any artistic changes you feel would make the picture look better - we trust you will do a good job.

Your standard 3/4 weeks should be fine since we would like to be able to have these sent out at the end of January. Please let me know when you think the approximate date for the high res soft copy will be available to download.

Attachments:

1. Attachment 1 is the copy I saw on your site that I would like to replicate with a few changes.
2. Attachment 2 is the idea/theme of the background on the beach during the sunset that I would like to mimic.
3. Attachment 3,4 and 5 are pictures of me from a few different angles
4. Attachment 5 - 6 are pictures of Mona from both angles (wearing black and white in both pics)
Please let me know when/how to transfer you the money - I live in the U.S. if you know of any easier way to send payment.

Thanks again for all of your help - we are really looking forward to seeing the final product! "

Caricature theme - Indian wedding

Client's brief:-
"I am getting married in June, and would like a caricature drawn of me and my husband which I can use on a Thank You card to send out to guests. ....I am impressed with your work, and looking at the website...As I am based in the UK, would it be suitable to email you images from the wedding once photos have been taken?....Brief for caricature

Bride & Groom
- Bride and groom in wedding outfits, as in photographs (as accurate as you can!)
- Groom to have gold Indian wedding shoes on (photo attached) instead of bare feet.
- Bride to have gold sandals on (photo attached) – if feet are showing in drawing. Hot pink nailpolish if hands are detailed, not sure if this shows in photos…
- Bride and groom facing forwards, groom holding bride in his arms (pose like the caricature you did for Chinese traditional wedding on your blog, 27th April 2009)

Background:
- If it looks good, if you can try to do the ceiling as dark blue with white twinkle lights (similar to starry night) – as this was in our wedding hall.
- Red, gold and orange draping in background as you see fit.
- Indian wedding elephant (similar to photo I emailed you) standing in background, can be cartoon style with a happy face!
- Chocolate cake in background similar to photo I emailed (3 tier orange colour with chocolate elephants)
- Table with a chocolate fountain with fruit tree next to it (photo attached), and if possible, a small ganesh statue on table (like photo attached)."

Indian wedding couple caricatures A4
An order from United Kingdom.
I just found out that this client made her initial enquiry in Jan this year, and subsequently decided to place her order in July. Wow! 6 months!

As you can see from the above artwork, the most challenging part was the wedding gown and accessories. I took a long time, painstakingly to bring out the details in a more simplified way, and yet still a lot of effort was put in.

However, the feedback from the client was rewarding:-
"Hi Jit,

Thank you for the excellent caricature and the wonderful service you offer! This will be lovely for the thank you cards I wish to post out to my guests. You have drawn it so well based on my instructions. I am very glad I came across your details on the internet. I have been very pleased with your professionalism and constant contact regarding my requirements.

I wish you all the best with your career - and if I ever need a similar drawing doing, I will definitely contact you again!

Many thanks,

Divya"

Caricature theme - traditional Indian wedding

Client's brief:-
"Hi Jit

I saw your stuff online - its really good....
I actually want to use the caricature for my wedding invites

Munish, my fiance, and I have decided now what we want to do for the caricature. I'll explain it below - please let me know if its possible for you to do this for us :)

Munish
Munish will be wearing the traditional clothes that boys wear together with the scarf thingie. I'm attaching Image 1 as a sample of what sort of thing Munish will be wearing. His shoes should be the same as in your earlier caricature (attached as Image 2).

Me
I'll be wearing the traditional indian outfit that girls wear for the wedding - like what you drew in Image 2. Is it possible to do it in green and red though? A mixture of the two colours? I'm attaching Image 3 to give you an idea of what I mean by the mixture of colours but, of course, I understand that it can't be as complicated as this - something simple is fine - but I would like both colours if possible.

Also, can you make my head scarf a bit more flowing? I'm attaching Image 4 to give you an example of what I am thinking of.

In terms of accessories, I want to be wearing bangles, earrings and the jewellery for the head (tilak) but could you make the tilak smaller than the one in Image 2? I don't want it to be so big.

We don't want to be wearing any garlands

Pose
Basically, we want the two of us to be semi-facing each other but our faces will be facing the front and we'll both be smiling.

I'll be making tying the scarf Munish is wearing into a knot around his neck (not quite choking him though haha it should be a bit loose but should be clear that it is being tigthened into a knot...he should still look happy please!) and below that we want to say "we are tying the knot". Is it possible for you to include the words for us as well in the potrait?

Background
In terms of the background, we just want a lord ganesha in the background. Something similar to what you did in your caricature attached as Image 2. That's actually the only thing we want in the background. Its auspicious :) Do you think it will look strange to have nothing else in the background?...."

Traditional Indian wedding couple A3
Looking at the request, you know this is not an easy job, especially the wedding costumes.

Client's feedback:-
"Oh, very nice! Perfect!...Thanks so much for the awesome caricature! :)"

Caricature theme - Indian & Chinese wedding

An oversea order from Canada.

Client's brief:-
"I came across your work through a google search. I really adore the Chinese wedding couple. I've attached the two jpegs off your website that I am interested in. What is the difference in price for the two?

I am interested in getting something done for my wedding next year. In Canada, it is common to send out "save the wedding date" cards and I would like to incorporate a caricature. I am Chinese and my finance is Indian (Hindu). We are happy using the Chinese wedding couple, but are also curious if there are any mixed Indian/Chinese templates.....

My fiance and I are interested in keeping him in the Chinese groom, but perhaps having me in a red Indian attire (like a Lengha) and himself carrying me....."

I've attached three photos of a traditional red wedding lengha. The first one (Lengha 1) shows the colour and detail I would like on the caricature. Since the model is sitting, i've included the Lengha 2 photo of a model standing up, to show the shape of the Lengha. (Please do not include a head scarf as this is more a North Indian and Muslim tradition). Lastly, i've included the photo-Lengha 3 to show you a bindi that i would like on my forehead. I prefer the more gold decorated one rather than a dot-like bindi.

Indian and Chinese wedding caricatures
Q-digital caricatures are not customisable.
Thus, this client can only go for caricature with theme in colour.
As usual, the killing one are the textile details.
Quite impossible to follow every details. Hence, I need to simplify the details.

Feedback from the client:-
"...The work looks fantastic. Thanks again and it was a pleasure working with you."

Caricature theme - Indian wedding

Couple caricatures Indian wedding Sinapore
This wedding couple provided me the Indian wedding suit photo as reference.
Looking at the textile pattern of the bridal wedding gone enough to make me faint.
Thus, I did my own version. Looked quite good too, right?
Background is Singapore landmarks as per requested.
Besides the Merlion, Esplanade, Changi Airport etc, I added in the Singapore Flyer, since this is the latest landmark, befor ethe Integrated Resorts (IR) coming soon.
Expecting more clients requesting for that IR icon as soon as next year end.

Caricature theme - Indian traditional wedding

Client's brief:-
"Hi Jit,
As per our earlier conversation, I would like to have a caricature potrait done with an Indian wedding theme; i.e. Traditional indian costumes (bride and bridegroom), background (anything), with the groom carrying the bridegroom. I would like to have this in soft-copy so that we can attach it to the wedding invites.....the groom shall be carrying the bride in a standing position. Background: something minimalistic and with the words: "we're tying the knot.".....'

Caricature theme - Indian wedding

Client's brief:-
".....I would like to order caricature marker. Its like the post on your blog on 18 March 2010, but this is a indian muslim way. So I will show different kind of photos and explain along the way. Cause they do not have a photo taken together nor the studio photos. So its quite difficult. I have attached powerpoint slides with the explanation beside it....."

Indian wedding couple caricatures A3
The remaining brief is mainly mix this to match that type, which is the tougher part, on top of the wedding costume details. I spent about 2-3 times longer on these details, as compared to thefaces.

Client's response upon seeing thsi artwork:-
"Nice!"

Caricature theme - other types of wedding

These are different from the normal modern wedding theme which I am always requested to draw.

This one is the Indian wedding theme.
I have to pay special attention to the designs and patterns of the clothing, as it is not what I have always drawn. Background is the Taj Mahal, landmarks of India, and their guests, of course, imaginary.
This is used as graphis for their wedding invitation card.

This is a special one. A wedding of a Filipino guy and a Chinese lady.
However, they want a Bollywood movie style in terms of theme - the sari and the coconut tree.
The invitation message is on the signpost.
It is meant to be put at the entrance to the wedding hall.

Caricature theme - Indian wedding on flying carpet (Aladdin)

Client's brief:-
"Hi Mr Jit,

First of all, I wish to congratulate you on your immense talent. Its been a pleasure to scroll through your work.

I would like to have a couple cariacture done of my husband and I as my Christmas gift to him....

Am a big fan of the Disney Princesses so please don't puke! I get enough of that from my hubby.

1. The theme would be Aladdin (Hubby) and Jasmine (Me) flying on a carpet.
2. Would like the drawing to depict a night scene with a smiling crescent and stars. Would like a palace to be shown from a side view. Not too fancy. Would be able to provide you with a sample pic.
3. Instead of a lamp, would like my husband to be holding a small Ganesha idol. Can provide a picture.
4. Hubby to be be wearing white pants, purple vest with gold designs and a purple turban.
5. I would like to wear the traditional turquoise outfit with lot of chunky accessories.

What do you think? Please let me know. Am pretty excited abt the imagery I have in my head. But since I'm extremely vain and though I do have big eyes, I do not possess the doe-eyed look that Jasmine pulls off, I'm counting on your artistic talent Jit.

One more thing, once the drawing is ready, I thought of actually glueing some really tiny sequins and studs on the drawing. Is that advisable?

Please have my hubby sporting his goatee in the drawing.
2. I don't need the palace to be so elaborate. I only like the extreme left of that picture actually. Looks nice with the tree and the dome structure. Something small and simlar would do. You could have it in silhouette so that it doesn't need to be too detailed.
3. Aladdin isn't wearing a turban as you can see from the cartoon pic. So that hat would do. Do not want the carpet to look too wavy like this one does though. Please add small tassles on the four corners. Plain stringed ones is okay. And pls have me hanging or having my arms interlocked around my hubby's neck.

Will keep the studs really small..

Am going to present this to my hubby on New Year's Eve instead of at Xmas as I originally planned"

Indian wedding couple caricatures on flying carpet
Quite a surprise to me, on the outcome of this caricature.
Looks good in terms of the theme as well as the colour scheme.
I like it.:)

Caricature theme - Indian Muslim wedding

Ehmm....not sure whether they were Indian Muslim. The groom looked like Muslim to me, and also because of the cap on his head. The bride looked like an Indian to me. And they wanted Taj Mahal at the bottom of the drawing, while both of them on a flying carpet, with their names and wedding date on it. That was how I derived. Hopefully, I didn't get it wrong. Haha........

The caricatures looked even better with this frame. Isn't it?

So many perspectives comic strips and illustration posts last week. Finally a caricature post this week, in case you are bored with the former...... Backed on track this week. Quite a number of urgent caricature orders to be cleared this week. ..

"....my girlfriend would be in the wedding gown (traditional christan one) while i will be in an indian outfit. The background would be half of a church and half of a temple...."

Caricature theme - wedding + Egypt + India

Another wedding caricatures of a couple. This one, the Indian lady wanted to look sexy in the caricature. Her friend who came along with her told her that her mother will scold her. The bride said never mind. It was just a drawing. Hahaha..... The groom was an Egytian. So they wanted the background to have Taj Mahal (landmark of India) and the Sphinx and Pyramid (landmarks of Egypt).
