Caricature theme - Chinese traditional wedding

Client's brief:-
"Hi Jit,
I would like to order a Theme Caricature. I have no preference for
either marker or digital. Perhaps you will be able to provide me with
ideas after looking at the theme I have set out below.
Event: Friend's Wedding
Theme: Shanghai Tang - 1940's era
Purpose: to be displayed outside the hotel ballroom - at the reception area
Ideas: 1. Backgroud: Outside the house
2. Attire: Chinese Traditional Costume
3. Action: Dancing/Groom carrying bride 'walking' towards the house
1. Background - Outside the house
The reason I want to have the house as the background is because I
want to show the Groom's family's 堂号。堂号 that is ancestral name or
title, is mainly used for different surname , clan or family. Check
out - http://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-hans/%E5%A0%82%E5%8F%B7. If cant read
chinese, you can translate it into English. 堂号 is normally engraved on
a wooden plaque to be placed on the entrance of the house. See the
picture on the wiki website. The Groom's family's 堂号 is 东鲁。So the
words to be displayed is 东鲁.
2. Attire - chinese traditional costume
Their wedding theme is Shanghai Tang. Not sure if 1940s era has the
1940's wedding costume. Tried to search online but dont seem to be
able to find it. So guess to 'fit' the background above, chinese
traditional costume can do.
3. Action - Dancing/Groom carrying bride 'walking' towards the house
Since i want it to be outside the house, guess these are the 2 actions
that I can think of. Maybe you can let me know if you have other
ideas.
I have a question - is A3 size too small to be displayed outside the
ballroom? If it looks nicer if its bigger, then let's go for a bigger
pic...."

Client's feedback:-
"my friends and their families, especially the hubby-to-be, likes the pic. They are
impressed with the artwork as this is the first time they actually see
themselves as a cartoon! hahaha... (am glad i chose the right artist,

Just Married digital wedding couple caricatures on convertible Mini Cooper

Client's (from Switzerland) brief:-
"Hello Jit

We'd like to order one of your caricature in colour with background,
body and a theme.
We checked a lot of your examples on the website and we already have
our favourite (see picture just_married_car.jpg).
We just would like to change a few little things in this picture: the
steering whel should be on the left side and it's okay if the man is
driving.
Then we'd like to have some cans behind the car (car is pulling the
cans), similar to picture "just_married_cans.jpg".

We prefer the coloring of the picture "couple01.jpg" because it is
more restrained than in all your other caricatures like
"couple02.jpg".
We do also like the blue glow/shadow around the caricature
"couple01.jpg". We think you will see if this wish fits to our
caricature.
If you think something similar will fit much better then please feel
free and go for it."

"Just Married' digital wedding couple caricatures on convertible Mini Cooper
I did the line sketch and added a light wash over the digital sketch.
It is still hand-drawn. Instead on paper, I sketched on computer.
Many of my clients have the wrong impression that digital means that it is done using software and filters, with ease.
But the fact is no!
I used the brush tool in Photoshop like I used for drawing on paper with pencil, pen and watercolour brushes. It still requires the drawing skill to get it done. You will get a better idea if you look at the video I have captured of the creation process, from scratch to finish, at the bottom of this post.

Client's feedback:-
"Hello Jit
Thank you for your great work. We like it!........
What I did yesterday, was brightening a bit the background... The colors were a little to intensive for me.
Our faces look great, especially the one of my wife... you were drawing her just perfectly, like she really is! I really love her carricature.
So thank you once again... right now I'm downloading the video... quite curious what it is. :-)
We will definitely reccommend you to our friends!
We wish you all the best and good business.
Olivier & Daniela"

I sent the video to the client. He dropped me another email:-
"Wow, I just watched the video. I'm very impressed to see how you did it... you're really talented.
Thank you so much for sending us the video. Awesome!

Tell me, how long did it take to draw our carricature?"

It's 5-7 hours!

"Allright, very interesting. I totally underestimated the necessary time. I thought about 2-4 hours....and I wish I would be so talented like you. :-)"

Caricature theme - couple caricatures relaxing on mountain

Client's brief:-
"....In total there will be 2 separate caricatures with different themes -
colour.
First, its for my parents' birthday(1st July) - (you can actually work on
this first)
My idea for them is to have them drawn in hot figures either enjoying on the
beach or somewhere 'stressed-free' places with a small traditional chinese
temple behind on a mountain or something....."

I got Kamal and Reggie to partner me for this event.

Since I was the first caricaturist, the guests and staffs were very excited, crowded around me to get their caricatures done.

I was given a smaller paper size (B5) prepared by the client. (Usually I draw on A4 size paper.)
Caricature live sketching for Ricoh Roadshow - 4
Few days before the event, the client told me that the paper given was not totally matt. It has a thin coat on the paper.
Caricature live sketching for Ricoh Roadshow - 5
Just in case my usual ink and brush don't stay on the paper, I have prepared myself with the Copic second generation black brush marker. It dried instantly, and I drew slightly faster because of this, and without dipping for ink from the bottle. The brush strokes were more controlled, but lack the brushy dry strokes of the normal brush I used.
