digital caricature for Procter & Gamble (P&G)

Client's brief:-
"...We would like to paint a caricature for one person. Attached is the photo (unfortunately we only have the group photo, he is the 2nd person from the left).
We would also like the caricature to show him holding a bar of Safeguard soap and Venus shaver (I’m still trying to get the high-res files for these P&G products)...."

She dropped me another email subsequently:-
"Hi Jit

Thanks for delivering the caricature today, just want to let you know that the response from my colleagues have been overwhelming. Everybody loves your work!
Many commented that the caricature really looks like Ivan in person, and our Marketing team is so happy with the product and brand logos that has been incorporated into the caricature.
Again, thank you for the wonderful work you’ve done on the caricature, it is the perfect gift for our well respected Marketing Director.

Regards,
Zenn Teo"

digital caricature for Procter & Gamble (P&G)

Another job for P&G, but from another client.
The brief:-
"Hi Jit
Please help to create a caricature for the attached.
Our director will be leaving Singapore to Shanghai so we are thinking of having a pix of him relaxing with a golf club (he loves golfing),
holding a burger and thinking of the brand that he left behind.......BTW, I would like to amend the pix. Instead of holding a burger, would like him to hold a cup of his favorite spinelli latte (see attach pix)."

Group caricatures for Procter & Gamble (P&G)

Client's brief:-
"Hi Jit
I have been recommended by Celine Juan from P&G to check your availability to do a caricature for our director who will be retiring end April.
My manager has proposed doing a picture of our director with about 8 picture of his direct report surrounding him. Could you kindly propose
Some design and provide us a quotation and also how long will it take to have it done.....
His job revolved round fragrances like Hugo Boss, dunhill, escada, D&G and Anna Sui Cosmetics. He likes playing golf.......

I have altogether 13 pax.
As suggested by you, we’ll take the golf theme with his staff surrounding him, My manager would also like to include some of the brands that he has worked with.
Instead of b/w, it will be a colored picture. I will also need a frame for it. Expected collection will be on 26 Apr.
Another highlight to note: Hans Wohmann always wear a white inner shirt be it that he is wearing a shirt or t-shirt so his dressing will have white on the neckline opening.
Hope this clarifies

Do give us a quote and also provide a draft so to meet the deadline."

draft for P&G
Client's feedback on the draft:-
"Hi Jit
Need to amend 2 things.
1) Alexander and Guido to swop place.
2) for the logo, omit D&G, dunhill and escada and include anna sui logo(as per attached). "

Caricature for Procter & Gamble (P&G) International

Caricature P&G Holland soccer player
The client who ordered this caricature, used to commission me for another caricature when I busk in Orchard Road. Now, she works in P&G, and wants to give her colleague/boss(?) a farewell caricature.
He loves soccer. She requests him to be in Holland jersey, since he's from Holland.
Singapore landmarks like Singapore Flyer, Merlion and Esplanade are added in too, since it is a gift from his colleagues from Singapore P&G branch.
Noticed my style changes? I didn't draw a full soccer field. I 'arch' the field, eliminate the edge. Think it looks a lot better and less restrained graphically. Do you think so too?

Caricature for Procter & Gamble (P&G)

Client's brief:-
"Ram has been with our company for about 22-25 years and is retiring. He will be returning to India after leaving Singapore. Ram is an ardent fan of cricket game. Can we have Ram in a cricket game suit holding the bat on his right hand with his right leg leading to India and on his left hand holding the P&G products that he has previously handled and left leg in Singapore. We would like to have some historic pictures of Singapore and India in the background."

caricature for P&G cricket player
Lots of white colour in this caricature.
Thus, the lines got to do more work here.

Too many products for his left hand.
I gave him ’special power‘ here.:D
My son was fascinated with it. Too much Dragonball and Ben 10 for him, I think. Haha...

Client's response:-
"Oh, looks very much like him. Looks very good!"

Caricature for P&G and Gillette

Caricature P&G Gillette
Mixed up.
Supposed to do up this caricature and send it for framing first, but I started with the other order for Gillette. Luckily I still have some time left to do up this caricature. Same company, different clients, and yet collection dates are so close.
This gentleman will be leaving the company soon. He has worked in China, Japan, India, Middle East, Boston etc.
The client wanted landmarks of these countries, instead of the flags to represent them.
Told her can't put in everything. and suggested to add the more prominent country landmarks like Great Wall of China, Mount Fuji and Taj Mahal. She agreed.

Caricature P&G Gillette edited
Upon her collection, she said that I missed out Boston and Merlion. No point arguing. Just do what they wanted, and they will be happy. This is what I learned from my past 14 year experience in this line.
I took it out from the frame and added them in, plus Big Ben from London. Sent back to my frame supplier to seal it back.

digital group caricatures for Procter & Gamble (P&G)

My regular client wanted a similar digital group caricatures which I have done for them few months back, probably she likes the cleaniness of the overall drawing?!

Untitled
Sketching out the 3 main character. Of course, the one in the subject being the biggest!
Untitled
Sketching out the faces and inking in Sketchbook Pro, on my Wacom Cintiq 24HD. It is working fine now, but I don't know when the burning smell will come back. I tried not to overwork it. Off it every few hours of use. Hopefully it will never come back. Let me use it for a few years more at least?!
Untitled
Untitled
Rearranging them in Photoshop after the inking is done. This took me nearly 2 hours, including the inking of landmarks. Unbelievable, right?
Untitled
Rendering in Photoshop is better than in Sketchbook Pro, at least for me.
I like teh overlapping of colours with transparency. gives me the watercolour feel.
Untitled
As I can zoom in and do the detailing in outine and colouring, the drawing turned out to be clean and sleek, as opposed to drawing traditionally on paper using colour markers. The nibs are still the same size, no matter what size of drawing I am working one, making the work of detailing rather messy. This is the biggest advantage I find working digitally, on top of the undos, maneuver, and controls of tones and variety of colours I can choose from.
digital group caricatures for P&G
I am pleased with the outcome, especially seeing it in A2 size print! Really sleek, but it consumed more time as versus working traditionally on paper. Who said working digitally is faster?

Caricature for Procter & Gamble (P&G)

I received this email while I was having my (birthday cum getaway) holiday in Malacca from my regular client. The brief:-
"This is a farewell gift for one of my Leadership Team member. He is a Japanese and based in Singapore. Worked on our SK-II Brand for the Japan and Korea markets. A great dancer, we wanted him doing the Michael Jackson special kick in the air. Maybe dress in a Japanese Kimono and also highlighting some SK-II products, etc"

caricature in Japanese Kimono with SK-II for P&G
Started working on it once I came back.
I have never seen Michael Jackson doing such kick in the air.:D
Can't find it on Google and Youtube too.
Anyway, their boss gave me a simple draft. Just draw according to what he has drafted out.

Caricature for Procter & Gamble (P&G)

Old time client's brief:-
"....Eddie is his name. Eddie will be moving from Singapore to Cincinnati. He has worked in Japan, China and Singapore. We would like a caricature of him in a PINK SHIRT flexing his muscles departing from Asia to Cincinnati. On the palm of one hand he can be holding a trophy and the other palm a bottle of SK-II. Given that he is a Research Manager, can we also have consumers in the background of the picture.

P/s: He is our Fitness Idol in our SK-II Department."

Caricature for P&G SK-II
After Googling for Cincinnati online, then I realised it is a city in United States.
This building perhaps is the most significant landmark I can find.
In case no one can tell which city it is, I decided to put in the city names.
