Went to Batu, Surabaya, Indonesia for a business trip.
This place totally changed my impression of Indonesia.
I have never thought of Indonesia has such a cool place.
Yes, about 1200 meters above sea level.
The temperature is about 20 degrees Celcius in the daytime, and below that (not sure of how much - maybe 16 degrees Celcius?) when it turns dark.
I have not perspire during these 3 days of exploration at Batu!

The hotel which we stayed. Nice swimming pool, but I have no time for this. I can imagine how cold the water is!

We went to this fine dining restaurant twice, simply the food here are just so good and cheap!
This crispy"Dancing Fish" costs us only SGD$4.50! And it doesn't have the 'muddy' taste of freshwater fish. It is not frozen fish, but cooked right after it is caught from the pond.

One of my favourite chili during this trip - mixed with mango......
I can't help swallowing my saliva again.....
5 thumbs up!
The Indonesians are really good at making good chillies.

I have never been on a Padi field. This is my first time. Really!
The cool weather makes me relax, and makes everything look so good, I think.
Imagine if I am standing here under the hot sun of about 34 degrees Celcius.....

This waterfall is 60m in height, 1200 meters above sea level.

The water is like ice water to me when I step in. After having 2 photos snapped by Robin, I am reluctant to come up.....hahaha!

Another great place - hot spring.
Imagine the cold air on top, while you are dipped in the hot spring.
The water is constantly running, so rest assured that the water is very clean.

Guess how much is the entrance fee?
SGD$0.45!!!

A swimming pool with water from the hot spring! Haha... I haven't seen this elsewhere.

Batu traditional market - Songgoriti.

Batu is well-known for their apples.
It produces the best apple in the region.
I have tasted the green apple, which is usually sour.
Surprisingly, it is not sour, but sweet!

One of the outbound facilities at Apple Farm - targeted at team building for corporates!

The guava (above) and apple trees (below).

These are strawberries!

One of the corporate team building activities held in the apple farm.

No time for a ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) ride. A snapshot instead.

Green green green......

This is one of the tourist attractions in Batu - Jawa Timur Park 2, which includes the world class Theme Park,

Batu Secret Zoo,

and Animal Museum.

If you can't walk far, this e-bike is just right for you!

White tiger, and I saw white lion! (my first time:D)

Water theme park with Toy Story, Madagascar and Shrek characters,
My kids will really have a great time if they come along!

With the exception of this dinosaur skeleton, the rest of the animals in this museum are real animals, but stuffed. An very interesting place, which I don't see it elsewhere.

This 5-stars hotel - Klub Bunga is a wonderful place for a family getaway outside Surabaya.
It has a complete massage pool, good swimming pools, water basketball court, volleyball net, water slide, air rifle shooting area, tennis courts, basketball courts, beach volleyball court, badminton court and squash court etc

Ehmmmm.... chilli again.
These 2 are the Ayam Goreng" (fried chicken) I have during my lunch on the last day of the trip in Malang. They cost me only SGD$5 in all! And they are really yummy!

Shopping for some of the local products before we leave for Singapore.....

More photos and info on my new blog, if you are interested!
Check out the flying fox and rafting activities too!

I was in Batu, Surabaya on the 3-4th February, 2011. I like this place and I went to all the places you mentioned in your blog. Thank you for refreshing my mind and make me recalled back the sweet memories during my stay in Batu.
It is indeed a nice place for holiday.
I missed the cool weather and local food there.:)
