A 3-hour (7pm- 10pm) gig for the Grand Opening of Molteni & C at Newton 200.
Another portrait live sketching after the gig for Marella in August.
The client required 2 portrait artists for their event.
There are many caricaturists which can do live sketching, but not many portrait artists that can do live sketching in Singapore. Reggie is first one on my list.
I was given a not-so-comfortable (as claimed by the client...haha..) workplace, but I am perfectly happy with it. It is good for my back, especially when I need to work for long hours.
First one - one of the bosses....
Interesting features, and I wished I have more time , but he doesn't have much time for me, as he needs to entertain his guests.
I have a brightly lit-up setting for sketching. By right, it should make my sketching a lot easier.
But soon, I realised that there were many sources of lighting here. I saw multiple shades and reflected lights on the subject's faces. In this case, I will need to omit most of them, and try to simplify the shades, based on my experience, within the short timing of 10 minutes given. (Portrait usually takes up more time than caricature, as the former has to take into the consideration of proportion, and mood of the subject)
Her husband told me that he fell in love with the lady in this portrait....lol!
This lady requested for a caricature, and wanted to snap a photo of me with her and her caricature.
(The client gave me the liberty to do either portrait or caricature, depending on what the guest prefers)
This gentleman wanted a caricature of himself too, upon seeing the previous caricature I have done of the lady above.
She lets me choose whether to do a portrait or caricature of her. I chose the latter, as it is able to bring out her essence and character better.
Back to portrait....
Switch to caricature...
Back to portrait...
and caricatures....
She needs a caricature for sure.:)
Portraits.....
and some happy caricatures..... I felt like a juggler....:D
The designer.
The client sent me her feedback via email:-
"Dear Jit,
Thank you for the great job done.
Pls help convey my thanks to the other artist too.
My client's guests were all really happy. :)
Regards,
Gidania"
