Client's brief:-
"Hi Jit,
Thanks for the photo.
As mentioned over the phone, we’d need you on 30th November as a caricature artist for a mock up outdoor event for our corporate video shoot. Tentative time to hold is between 12pm-6pm. Will try to shorten it to 3 hours and let you know by tomorrow. As I’ll be on shoot tomorrow and if I don’t inform you by 5pm, please SMS me. Thanks! :)
We’d require the following items from you if possible:
20 – 30 previous hand-drawn caricature works, to prop up the table. (Mixture of Asians, Caucasians, mid-shots, close ups, etc)
Drawing materials (pencils, pens, markers, erasers, etc)
An easel, if you have one."
I was engaged by an event company to 'act' as a caricaturist.
Before that, they requested for a photo of me. Not sure what it is used for?!
Time was 10am - 3pm, but extended till 4:30pm.
The shooting venue - Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade.
Waiting place for the special talents (me) and the extras.
After the experience of the last shooting (more than 10 years ago for Moses Lim for a food program, acting as and artist too), I know that most of the time spent here will be waiting.
Thus, I brought some of my works along.
My turn only came around 1pm+.
My tools and setup.
I was told to sketch this director, but he doesn't have the time to keep still for me, even for 5 mins.
Thus, I snapped a photo of him with my iPad 2, and did the sketching from it.
The pencil sketch (above) and inking with black color marker (below).
Lunch arranged by the client.
This is the program we are filming for.
Guess what? The filming was stopped due to rain, and after all the long wait, my part was not needed, due to the client's change of plan!:D
Anyway, I got well paid by the client and left for the next gig in the evening on the same day.
