A 2-hour gig (7pm - 9pm) at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) - one of the 2 Integrated Resorts (IRs) in Singapore.
The client requested Reggie (my caricaturist friend) for 2 caricaturists for this event.
He got me to partner him.

A bubbly lady. She won herself a iPad 16gb during the lucky draw! And she was the last one that came in!
What a lucky day for her. I included an iPad in her caricature drawing for her to remember this day....:)

digital portrait of a doctor

digital portrait of a doctor - A3
A commissioned digital portrait sketch.
The reference photo was pretty old and pixelated.

I have screen-recorded the sketching process.
Somehow, the video halted halfway through the editing, despite multiple attempts.
Thus, there's no video on this to share.....

booklet of "Helping Hands from the Heart" - MCYS Volunteer Award 2010

digital portrait illustrations printed on "Helping Hands from the Heart" - 1
I just received this booklet in my mailbox, sent by my very kind client, Amy from Pico Art.
It is always excited for an artist/illustrator to see his/her works being published.
It just give you the feeling of all the hardwork and effort put in to create the artworks are well-paid off.

By the way, I didn't expect these digital portrait illustrations I have done for Pico Art were printed in grey scale.

They seemed to lose the glow on their faces.

However, the feeling is still great to see my artworks get published!:)

Caricature for Crowne Plaza Changi Airport hotel

Client's brief:-
"...Attached is the casual shot of the Mark Winterton. Together with the photograph can you add the background of Crowne Plaza Changi Airport hotel...."

Caricature for Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Hotel
A rather challenging job. Not really on the building in the background, but on the eyes part. In the reference photo, the eyes are behind the shades. they are not clearly shown. On top of that, there's reflection. However, my pen and brush strokes are sharp and defined.
I was crossing my fingers at the inking stage - looks like or doesn't look like? I am more biased to the former...:)
After adding in the colours with markers, I managed to get the likeness. Phew.....

Caricature for AustCham, Singaproe

Client's brief:-
"Scott standing with Singapore skyline behind in the background, but very distant ie merlion; then closer but still behind him a row of double story shophouse looking bars/pubs, ie boat quay or similar…imagine him standing across the river from boat quay on the Indochine side with boat quay behind him…have Maybank tower at the left hand corner as that is where he worked for the past five years.

The bars/pubs would then have signs hanging in the front naming the pub, not all of them, say 5 - 7, list below. The idea is a row of pubs but know that they don’t look like that in actual fact however it reflects the favourite places that scott likes to drink. I tried to attached some photos of the front of each of the pubs so that you could draw them a little more like they are?"

A really urgent job. From placing order to collection, it was only a matter of few hours.

Caricature for Cigna International Pte Ltd

caricature sketch of Gary Denson for Cigna
Since freshwater crayfishing is his favourite hobby, I made it as the main theme.
In addition, it could look awkward if I use either one of the rest (his loves) as the main theme, while incorporate crayfishing in this caricature.

After the draft was approved (not focusing on resemblance as usual, at this stage) , I blocked in some colours to give the client a rough idea of how the final caricature will look like.
caricature for Cigma - colour
The whole process was very rush. I was given about one and a half days to complete it, with framing.
Usually, I need more time for the VIP package, given that the time needed to show every process, as well as to wait for the client to revert.
There were some hiccups along the way, but we managed to sort them out, after burning some midnight oil.

The framed artwork was later hand-carried to Australia by the client, and presented to this genttleman as his 50th birthday present.

Frankly speaking, I didn't enjoy drawing her costumes and the rest. It was quite a torture for me... and it took me a long time to complete.

A short video which seems like the painting process was a breeze...:D
